i live in texas and work in the oil field. I have to travel back and forth from the rig and home. As of right now im living in Tx and working in Pa. I work 14 on and 7 off so i travel about 3600 miles a month. Am i able to write this mileage off?
When i was working locally last year and i did my taxes online with turbo tax they did not let me write off my mileage, but every one i worked with went to this CPA that specialized in oil field worker and he some how wrote off there mileage. The problem i had with turbo tax was that my job did not require me to have a certain vehicle, so it would not let me write it off.
Now my rig is constantly moving so my work place is constantly moving and fluctuating in mileage. Is this grounds for a mileage write off?
