idea how to report it? My school sucks because they do not give ANY tax advice. I received a fellowship (scholarship) where they pay my out of state graduate school tuition and give me about $1000 a month in living/book expenses (ok they don't suck that much). They did not issue me a W-2, rather a 1098-T, which when i tried to put on my turbotax it said since i'm being claimed by someone else, i cant file it. so now my question is where do i report that i was given $1000 a month from October-December? Question two is I was given, by my useless school's payroll department, a letter that said if my award continues into 2009 (which it is) i may have to pay "LIABILITY TAX" by filing 1040-ES forms and that the first QUARTERLY payment is due 4-15-09. WTF does this all mean?? please help
