Solaris was much much better than the (pointless) remake. The soviets saw it as their answer to 2001 A Space Odyssey.
I remember enjoying Stalker when I saw it a long time ago. They're the only two I've seen.

i've seen 4 of his movies,those listed above,"stalker" was the best of the 4 i think,and i have both versions of "solaris" and haven't watched either one yet.
Each of the movies has something to think about and reflect on,i wouldn't call any of them boring myself.
"mirror" gets a bit lost i feel.
"ivan's childhood" is about a young boy during the second world war,this was done miles better by "come and see" another russian film.

Only seen Stalker, and Solyaris(haven't seen the remake yet). Don't get bored by his films, wonderful work from the director.

Two great movies indeed. Obviously not for everyone and if you only like your sf to involve ray-gun toting space aliens there's a chance you'll find 'em boring! Both are classic examples of how to film good books the right way. Stanislaw Lem's original novel was a bit dense for me and one of his I didn't quite get into, but it took some aspects of the story and crafted something that was more accesible. Same with the Strugatsy brothers' The Picnic (I think, I'm dragging the memory up) with the metaphor of aliens leaving behind rubbish like they'd been at a picnic but to us mere humans even alien rubbish is wondrous.
