Tara is apparently 12 or so in the book series.
End of 2010? I'm finding that hard to believe. I believe it started production in fall 2008, why would it take over two years, when it appears to have been well into production in November 08?

Disney Channel, eh? I don't know if that implied it would air on DC France as well as M6, or if DC is the American broadcaster.

Seeing how CN is treating their newer acquistions, such as Casper (which was made by Moonscoop as well), I'm starting to not want TD:TAS on CN.

M6 (French TV channel) apparently aired some sort of teaser a couple weeks ago.

If it comes to Disney in America they might take the chance and air it on Disney XD, especially if it's more of an action oriented show and less of say a drama, (Depends on how the show is balanced I guess) it depends on that even with a female lead if they believe it could target a male audience.

I was surprised that W.I.T.C.H aired on the more male targeted Jetix Block then the female centric Disney a few years ago so we might see a repeat of that.

If it indeed does come to Disney in America that is.

Anyway I'm willing to give it a shot if and when it comes to America.

Based on that video preview, Tara Duncan does indeed seem like W.I.T.C.H. meets Harry Potter. I can say very little about the series, since I know nothing about the books it was based on, but if Tara Duncan does come to the U.S., I might give it a look.

By all appearances, Tara Duncan would seem to be another "teenager fights evil" show, a genre I've kind of had my fill of, but it does have 2 features that I like: magic and a female protagonist. So if or when this series comes to America, I may take a look at it.

Well, it'll apparently (in France, at least) air in.. September 2010.
Which is odd, it looks like it's going along fast in production from the last preview.

Then again, if they want to promote the books more, if it's ready around May, who knows?
But you'd think they'd want to get it to the core fanbase first. -shrug-

Some new information:

-The current preliminary title is "Tara Duncan: The Evil Empress" now.

-First episode is currently scheduled for September on M6, but might premiere in June if the voice casting and recording goes well.

The author keeps mentioning something about Disney Channel in early 2011, I don't know if she means Disney Channel France, or an American home.

New trailer. Just some music, but a lot of clips. This is looking promising. I'm expecting the projected June release to happen.

EDIT:
What I'm seeing now is that in April, there'll be a screening for channels all around the world of the first episode so they can determine if they want to buy it or not, and it's said to make its debut in France on Disney XD in the Spring, meaning possibly in May. It's also apparently a co-production with Disney Channel, so perhaps this should be moved to the Disney Forum?

I've been trying to get to the Tara Duncan forum to get more information, but it's been down for a long time.

Giving this thread a bump to mention that the series premiered in France the other day. There's an English trailer on YouTube, but I'm not sure how legally it was uploaded, so I'm not wanting to take any risks. There's a lot of "animesque" stuff in this, such as the classic sweatdrop. There's definitely some anime influence in there, which is pretty cool. Since they clearly have an English dub going, I assume this means they found it a TV deal in the United States, perhaps on The Hub, which could be a good place for it.

Good day
i'm new here but i can answer a bit about Tara Duncan.

I'm from Canada and i have been reading the Tara duncan books since they were edited, i watched the series since it debuted in France via a download site. here http://downparadise.ws/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=530185&hilit=tara+duncan because if you are outside France you can't watch it on M6 channel

The series is nothing like the books, the characters are the same but it does not follow what happens in the books. Still it is nicely done and fans will appreciate :D

I don't know if they will be doing a dubbing in English and have it showing here.

The Evil Empress is not the title of the series but the name of the 8th book that came out last september 2010
