RIGHT YOU LOT!! These are absolutely perfect - they look like they're made for the bike. Velcro attachments and they're roomy. The tailbag in particular replicates that wonderful pointed rear tail light arrangement - these look like Ducati made them. Plus, the red plastic is almost identical material to the fairings and tank.

The insides of these bags are full of useful compartments, shoulder straps, zipped parts, etc.

Absolutely perfect. Those previous photos look ghastly in my opinion. I know this is a sports bike and it isn't perfect to load it up like a tourer but come on lads, lets not put a load of grey carbunkles on the bike?! Reasonably priced and I've attached the US website for you. (I used the UK one).

Happy hunting anyway x

I've seen the bag that comes with the 1098 and it will take some getting use to. It looks funny on the bike. I'll have to check and see if I still have the website that I found it on.

They have a rear seat tail bag on ebay for 70 bucks I think. It collapses and everything to where it looks like the seat itself.

I commute on my 1198s, and took it to VIR for the AMA round. I use a cargo net secured by the rear seat. Going to/from VIR, I used my GI Duffle bag, one each, to carry my 3 days worth of stuff. Normally I lug a laptop back and forth to work, the only real trouble I had with the duffle was it was taller and as a result tougher to mount the bike. Else, it worked great. Waterproofing is cheap, one hefty cinch-sack for a total outlay of:

Hefty plastic bag: $.85
cargo net(black): $9.44
GI Duffle bag : $ -.-- N/A - just 6 years of my life.

Just about the cost of a full tank of gas.
