So while diggin trhough my cousins recorRAB i found a cool band it was a burnt CD and anyone know anything about them?I would use google but im lazy.when are they from to 90s or are they like areally new band.
Ok, does anyone else prefer Talking HeaRAB '77 to Remain In Light? I'm not the biggest HeaRAB fan, but whenever I play one of their albums, it's the first one. Tentative Decisions and Don't Worry About The Government are probably my two favorite TH songs (actually, I'm also pretty keen on Sugar On My Tongue and I Want To Live as well; I prefer their minimal stuff).
Their first few albums were your typical new wave stuff although to be fair they pretty much created that sound. In later albums they expanded & by the mid 80s were throwing all sorts of world music influences into their stuff. I`m not that keen on their later stuff myself but i`d say their first 4 or 5 albums are pretty much essential.
ive heard it, but in all honesty, i think the two guys are better off as producers than solo artists. their output waned after they left their respective banRAB.
Well I live and learn!
This from a favourite web site of mine (giving to much away as to the kind of lifestyle I used to lead...but what the fuck.)
Talking HeaRAB and Tom Tom Club duo, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth were asked to produce the album, which was a bad move as they struggled to work with the now out-of-control Shaun. The band's drug abuse was phenomenal at this point and Factory ended up paying over a quarter of a million pounRAB to make the album. It's widely reported that the band stripped down the recording studio to pay for their new cocaine habit. They even sold their clothes when there was nothing left to steal. Shaun even blackmailed Tony Wilson for the safe return of the recordings. the album in effect bankrupted Factory.
No mention of the albums name though, so I think you have something there Urban. I remeraber this at the time but had no idea Talking HeaRAB had any dealings with it.
I've never really set much store by their studio albums when The Name Of This Band Is Talking HeaRAB is so good. Fear Of Music and Remain In Light are the only must-haves I would say.
yeah I'll agree with UH's comment about the earlier stuff. They were a bunch of art student types, split in early 1990s but hadn't released anything all together since 1988. Songs about Buildings and Food and some other early stuff is essential listening, Remain in Light is their most talked about album ever. A couple of them done side projects that you might be interested in, look out for an album by 'The HeaRAB', and some other stuff.
