you can use your existing router, but if u have problems with connecting ur bb with ur router, customer care is not required to assist u with any problems or troubleshooting. When I had it, i used my netgear router and it worked.
 
If you are using the full aspect of talk forever then you would need t-mobiles new router that will be lauching soon. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~
 
I attempted last night to set it up. Not as easy as the rep said. Customer care chimed in AT &T (my internet carrier) because my home router was too strong, and I got hung up on! 40min for nuthin. I'ma try again tonight.
 
What does the Tmobile router offer that a regular router doesnt?Is it just support from Tmobile?

I have another question. Can I use this service from any wireless access point that I have access to? For example, at work, school, from Mexico or China?
 
this might be a dumb question... do you have to have a land line to do this ? what does the router hook to ? a PC ?... or ?...
 
No, it is a router. It only connects to your Modem (DSL/Cable).

The router itself apparently will have two SIM slots, one for you home #, one for your mobile.

The Home SIM card will basically be your current home #, ported over to T-Mobile so you can take advantage of the WiFi calls.

I don't really understand about the mobile part, since the cellphone you used would simply connect via UMA, why would you need to put your SIM in there. What I think they meant was, if you have two home #'s, you can port both and the router will support both #'s.

They would have to beat vonage in the perks, like my calls to Europe (where I have family) are at no extra cost.

As stated above the service is changing. In dallas and seattle the new talk forever service is being tested. We are eventually going full swing into the voip market. We will be cheaper than vonage, and allow smooth transition from cell phone to uma to voip service allowing not only cell phone use at home for free, but also home based service and daresay eventually internet service. The engadget report is the most thorough to date that I know of. Just look for the new service to be launching soon.. Lots of really cool options with voip/uma/wifi..
 
I got the Talkforever up and running (all tho every customer service person still called it hotspot@home) I'm using it as my wireless router for my internet. After installing, my wireless network was Open. When I locked it and tried to regain access, all of the keys I tried didn't work. I'll be calling TMO again this afternoon to have them walk me thru.

When it was working, I called a friend to test it and it sounded great!
