Takashi Miikes' Audition......

The film was ok, it felt like I was sat waiting around for something to happen though. I suppose if you didn't know that it turned out to have a nasty ending, then it would have been a better film

The problem with audition is that the movie is rated 18, most people who watch it know its going to be quite disturbing so a lot of us end up waiting for the terrifying scene to come up with seems to take ages.

I liked Audition, I have it on DVD but I've only watched it once. It one of Miike's most famous film, probably 2nd only to Ichi The Killer, but it's not my favourite.

It does have a slow buildup but then when the "horror" finally arrives it doesn't let up! The last half an hour-ish is Disturbing, Disturbing, Disturbing. It's almost like two seperate films.

Someone on here didn't like The Happiness of the Katakuris?! What's not to like? There are singing zombies, and claymation and hills and a Japanese guy pretending to be a member of the English Royal family. ;) It IS bizarre, I agree. Like The Sound of Music on acid.

My favourite Miike film is Ichi (not a very original choice, I know) but I think the funniest I've seen is Visitor Q. Boy that film is twisted!

Suicide Circle (or Suicide Club) is so over-rated. It's a mess of genres and the ending is so embarrassingly sentimental I could barely stand to look at the screen.

Battle Royale is great. But if you really want to test your limits with Asian horror you should watch Guinea Pig 2: Flowers of Flesh and Bone....

The problem with Audition is Miike intentionally made the film dull to make the ending seem even more intense.

Old Boy has been mentioned, fantastic film, one of the best i've watched in the last 12 months.

And Guinea Pig 2 is just basically a tortue scene.
