When I was in High School (a long long time ago) I worked for a Taco Bell and they put huge cubes of Lard in their beans. The manager was always very hush hush about it. And specificly told me not to tell anyone. I have always wondered if it was just him or this was a company policy. But since the Lard came with regular company supply shipments it is hard not to think it is not a company thing. My husband insists that the beans are vegitarian and the web site seems to agree with this. But when I emailed the company asking, I did not get a reply.
Though their web site lists that none of their food contains Lard under food allergies this is deceptive because they do not mention that Gelitin (also a Pork product) Has been added to their Sour cream. (I have never found this ingredient added to sour cream anywhere else.)
My husband takes my kids to eat bean burritios regularly and I do not want to restrict them without just reason. But we are on a strick to pork diet. I just can not eat there because I just constantly think of the huge lard blocks that we had to dump in the beans.
Does anyone work for Taco bell and know if they do or do not do this anymore?
