i am trying to use my phone as a bluetooth modem but when i try to connect the phone tries to dial then stops. it will not acctually dial out. any help would be greatlly appreshiated

do you have WinXP with SP2? sometime earlier versions have probs with bluetooth

Maletek is on the right track. If you're thinking that you can use desktop/laptop/pocketpc to connect to the internet by using your phone as a dialup bt modem you may be disappointed. Most carriers (like the one I'm on) do not offer circuit switched data transmission (CSD) anymore. This is what you would need to get from a GSM phone service to a landline based dialup server. A lot of companies stopped this claiming that it was b/c the data bandwidth was really low (and didn't appeal to consumers). But I think that it was b/c they'd rather charge data per KB now that they mainly use packet transmission (e.g. GPRS). You can most likely still configure your phone to act as a BT modem, but you'll probably be limited to using the GPRS/EDGE transfer and have to pay arm+leg on data fees.
