T5 Won't Sync Contacts

Boy am I glad to find this list! I've been trying to figure this out for a number of weeks. I need my contact lists!!!

Where to begin . .
1. Bought PALM T5 in April 2005. Worked great with Outlook 2003 (WIN XP) using FranklinCovey Plan Plus for Outlook on my desktop.
2. Bought Laptop in July 2005. Tried and tried to get Outlook and Franklin software and T5 to work together. Reinstalled countless times.
3. Uninstalled Outlook & Franklin, Hard reset T5, installed Update 1.1, reinstalled outlook, changed name of hot sync . . .
4. Now it hot syncs with everything BUT Contacts. . .
Here's the last sync log:

- Could not open Handheld's e-mail Database.
- VersaMail : The conduit cannot communicate with the program on the handheld. There are two possible causes: 1. The handheld is not properly connected to the cradle. 2. VersaMail has not been configured on the handheld. Make sure that the handheld is connected to the cradle and that you have run VersaMail at least once.

Your help would be tremendously appreciated. I'm stumped!

Thanks!

1. In Outlook, right click on the contact folder and then choose properties. Then click on the General Tab - and be certain to "check" mark the box "Automatically Generate Microsoft Exchange Views".

2. If you have multiple Contact Folders - you can't use the default Palm conduits.

If 2 is true -then I'd use Pocket Mirror Pro XT from www.chapura.com to sync the subfolders.

If 1 is true - reboot the computer before attempting a hotsync.

Do you have additional suggestions for sync problems w/calendar? My calendar, after the sync process, isn't available on Palm desktop on my desktop PC.

If your syncing with Outlook and want to see your calendar in the Palm Desktop that has to be done via another purchased program.

If your just wanting to sync to the Palm Desktop all of your PIM information and your calendar isn't showing up ....then reinstall the Palm Desktop and do as the previous poster - copy your hot sync log. That will tell me a fair amount of what's going on.

Need a little more info to be helpful at this time.

I have read of a product that will sync to both Outlook and Palm Desktop at the same time. I have not tried it, so don't kill the messenger. :-) It is called SwtichSync, comes in 3 versions depending upon the model of Palm that you have, and here is the web site:

Hope it's as useful as it sounds.

(Moose, I've been away for a while. When did you get your 650?)

OldBlue:

Got the 650 about mid-June after we "tested" the blackberrys. We still have the BB's but I hated the interface (or lack of one). Also, still have the T5 so all is well.

BTW: SwitchSync - I've tried it several times over it's life span and never liked it because it had a tendency to "duplicate" things.

I got my 650 about a month before you did and have been very pleased with it, thus far, except for the lack of WiFi, the RAM memory issue, and the lack of stretch screen. It DOES keep me from having to carry both a cell phone and a Palm. I never did check out the BBs.

Thanks for your practical experience with SwitchSync. I have known about it, but have never tried it and probably never will because I don't have a need to sync both outlook and Palm desktop together.
