What is the Tungsten T5 Update v1.1?
The Tungsten T5 Update 1.1 adds enhancements that provide increased stability and reliability, as well as improved memory management on your handheld.

New in version 1.1:

Resolves problems caused when synchronizing large databases and files
Fixes problems in the Calendar relating to Birthdays or recurring notes
Fixes an issue with the Find feature and Calculator application
Provides non-volatile file system improvements
Also included from version 1.0 (released October 2004):

Fixes a problem in the Calendar that can cause a crash when the default view is changed from Agenda to Month View
Fixes an issue in Contacts when using the Menu drop down list for new entries
Adjusts the Palm OS? soft keyboard to prevent system instability in certain situations

I was so excited about this. As I have said previously there is a problem with the T5 installing large files at one time.

I read the entire text for directions. The directions said to allow for 20 minutes for the update to be installed properly. Well I just got the update installed without crashing and I have been working on it for 4 hours.

I had to delete everything in my backup files, not have the backup to do anything, change my backup file to old, and at last it is installed without crashing every single time I use my T5 after the synch is done. D*mn palmone...if they had only fixed this the right way the first time.

Thank goodness I am not working right now - I have the entire day to tomorrow to set everything up. What I suggest for the T5 users out there to change the name of your backup file to backup.old and then install the update....blasted thing!!!!!

-Oh Paul, there isn't smoke here, there is a bloody melt down instead! Public works employees in my own little world are on holiday! I can fix this mess before anyone gets back...oh glory of being the mayor!

Even though I have difficulties with the download and installation of the update, things appear to be much improved and more stability with the overall functions of my T5 and installation of software (at any size).

Carol,

When I did the update to my T5.....no on board backup just did the old standby of copy the backup directory on the PC to a safe place installed the update. Sync'd all restored. Took about 1/2 hour from start to finish with no glitches.

My backup is just the pc version.

Since OS5 has been out, as I said somewhere else, I haven't had a total crash and or loss of data that wasn't recoverable from the backup folder on the PC.

Sure it's nice to have a scheduled backup to the card every evening if I were travelling without laptop but rarely will I invoke a hard reset either without the laptop.

And hard resets are rare on OS5 devices unless your really goofing with some off the wall software.

Downloaded, backed up, and installed in under twenty minutes without a glitch. Everything works great...although I've never really had a problem in the first place with anything...

many of the issues I had with the update was because I was running so many different applications and I am also using PowerRun to utilize my space as much as possible. Live and learn I say...
