T5 Software List

I think I posted this somewhere else before, but I thought it deserved its own topic since there were some questions about this.

Our friends over at 1src have created a list of working (Green Light) and non-working (Red Light) software. Skate over there and see if your program's in the list of working or non-working. There's quite a few. If you have something to add, please do. It'll help people all over the place!

With kind permission I'll just reprint it here. Then someone can cut and paste with additions/subtractions so we've got our own "inventory." Will be interesting to see how this develops.

List for T5 Owners to Test (Yellow List)
Handstory 2.3: While it appears to be on the Green Light List, it appears to be causing other people some problems. Can anyone else comment on their experience? Thanks!
Pocket Quicken 2.03
SmartList To Go 2.603
MMPlayer 0.2.14: Skins now work fine, video playback much better. Still crashes on occasion if a certain sequence of actions is done. Bookmarks on external card are still broken. (mhamann) I've been in contact with the author and he's working on a solution. We've definitely got an active project here people. I expect things to be nice in stable and working on new features in the next couple releases.

I DON'T KNOW IF THE MODS can do this, but how about making this post EDITABLE by anyone registered on the forum - that way insertions could be made here rather than repeating them down the line and taking up space. Otherwise, copy and paste the above with your improvements/additions/version numbers, etc in a subsequent posting. That might be better, since then we'd see the evolution of the list.

Most troubling:

1. None appear to be working in LANDSCAPE, which is the whole reason for the fixed 480 T5 screen size!

2. All the SD CardBackup apps are having problems (I haven't checked to see if TealBackup would be on the list - but I use T/BU and CardBackup - so that would be a non starter if BOTH were disabled).

3. Agendus is a deal killer although they're working on v9.0 (HOW BIG WILL THAT BE??!!) to fix the T5 problems but probably won't be able to "speed it up;" reports are it's extremely slow on the T5 -- painfully so -- expecially going to AGendus Mail. Iambic report that's because of the T5 memory architecture. If you're a "contact history person," not having Agendus would make the T5 unuseable. Opinions vary, but I suppose one alternative would be Datebk5 since Pimlico apparently have issued an update (read it on here) for the T5 ALREADY. I'm an Agendus guy I'm afraid . . and wouldn't be without it no matter WHAT the "hardware benefits" might be. Those benefits are moot with the T5, as I already have flash and may make use of the "new app" which will essentially give you a T5 on your T3 and you get to keep the voice recorder.

This list is very interesting, however, as "more" apps seem to be working than "not," and certainly more apps than I thought would. Good news - thanks mhamann for the sharp eye, lad!! Cheers.

Whell im back with possably a few REDs

FlyBackup: gives Fatal Error when restoring a backup

TealBackup: Gives Error when restoring

PalmBoy: Fatal Error at starup

In Prosess

Fly-Zip

more soon...

Has anyone have a WORKING backup app for the T%, all i know dont really work:rolleyes:

Unfortunately no. CardBackup, BBVFS, TealBackup and as you state FlyBackup all having problems. Can't speak for the other one people seem to like - believe it's called BackupMan. Several users on here - they may want to contribute on that one.

New betas going up for TealBackup tomorrow or Friday, hopefully. Several fixes and improvements in T/Backup - I imagine Jason at jkware is working hard on the successor to 2.1, which I believe will ALSO OFFER ENCRYPTION like TealBackup.

For now then, NO - but I'll keep looking for you. I've noticed that CardBackup, even if it "sneezes," will restore the OTHER files - I had a corruption due to defragging the SD Card and it coughed on one file but put back all the rest and completed the restore -- so I'd say at THIS POINT CardBackup would be most reliable to at least "try." Be default on a T#, it refuses to restore datebookdb (usually 0 bytes) and a couple of thers that actually CAUSE a problem on restore -- the T5 may have similar "shouldn't put back" files and that's what's causing a minor problem.

k, for now ill try,

another possable problem, not sure what causes this but when i synced a few times the keyboard ent missing completly, i had to hard reset but created a backup of all on an sd card so na loss there, anyhow, what file controls that so i can pinpoint the problem/app.

Update:

TealBackup 1.05 BETA now on their beta page; "increased compatibility with T5." Can't vouch for it other than I own it on the T3 and use it for backup up private spreadsheets, etc - in addition to the "main" CardBackup folder.

You might try it with just a limited number of files (use exclusion list) . . and make up something on the handheld you don't care about -- back it up encrypted, delete from the handheld and then see if it restores okay to the T5. If that file works, you could get "braver." That way you're not risking restoring everything and having a nightmare.

Sorry, but I can't open the topic for general public editing. It would be nice, but that's not a forum option. I guess you can see why...some malicious person could delete the entire post/thread. Here's what I'll do though. I'll try my best, no promises, but I'll do what I can.

When someone finds an app NOT IN THE LIST ALREADY (meaning check first before posting), you may post it in the following format:

(Please SEPCIFY whether this is an UPDATE to an app already in the list, or if this is an app to be ADDED to the list. Then make sure you tell me whether it's a GREEN light or a RED light app.)
App name
App Url
General description of the problem if known

I'll be watching the topic, and I'll edit that post with the new information.

Good. We're the only forum working on a current list . . . but then again we're the COOLEST, too . . . . .

I got a message from a forum user who HAS INSTALLED TEALSCRIPT on the T5. Worked great! "Enable globally" - no problems. I'l let them post their own details.

Also, some others I sent along to them worked too . . .

Always On
SysTool
TomCatalog.

YAYYYYY!!! Know what?? If Date Difference worked, I might even

"recant on the rant!"

Now we're getting somewhere. It's those apps above plus DateDifference that I use daily, plus of course Agendus and Sheet2Go. I can bounce from app to app with T/Launch, and be done with "biz" while walking out to the CAR, for heaven's sake. Close flip, open door, start engine. That's what I was afraid I'd miss. If these "relics" work, it certainly gives me new hope.

Agendus apparently still blows on the T5, but Datebk5 apparently doesn't! It may be time for many of us, including me, to "take a gorilla to lunch." No, I'm not talking about the boss's wife.

It is very important to realize that the above older apps (AlwOn, S/Tool, T/Cat) NEVER had landscape, so won't now (Duhhh). I'm more concerned thta NEWER apps aren't getting landscape either.

My excitement isn't so much over the T5 (although I'm thrilled apps are working on it) . . . it's about the OS 5.4 -- apparently PalmOne may NOT have "killed off" existing applications I can't do without. Now I'm (tentatively and with caution) happy. . . I'm just gonna sit here being happy . . . at least things are "moving along."

Too hip. Thank you. That makes me feel better.

It's been a while since I looked at PTally . . . I'll look at it 2nite.

Three cheers on the jpg, LuvMyT5 . . . nice to see someone else who values the FINEST that software has to offer . . . brought a tear to my eye.

Hee hee.

Add 8 major Tealpoint apps

www.tealpoint.com

LISTING:

TealAgent 2.05
TealAlias 1.15 (In addition to T5 now supports 200 vs 100 aliases)
TealDoc 6.59
TealMover 2.02
TealMovie 3.93
TealPaint 6.40
TealPhone 4.14
TealSafe 1.23 (IMPORTANT:I'd give TealSafe a SKIP until they fix the little annoying bug I found tonight . . . the "sign-in" block requires you place the stylus on the line to get the "start cursor." The older one came up with the flashing cursor, waiting for you. Small point, but it's an unnecessary step in opening the app with your password/code. This new 1.23 provides the ability for T5 users and NON users alike to copy an ENTIRE data store to the clipboard for pasting in another part of TealSafe; many users had requested this feature.)

Plus 3 foreign versions:
TealMovie German 3.93
TealMovie Japanese 3.93
TealPaint German 6.40

The above are out of beta and will now work fully on the T5. I took a couple because of other improvements (Alias and Safe) but restored the older TSafe based on my comment (for now).

I think i should be 9,

TealBack

-the new beta works prety good for the T5... but is alot slower (this is without the extras activated) but still works and is good, if u HAVE the time.

Didn't mention TealBack because the 1.06 beta hasn't "dropped" yet to full version.

It will sport better "logging" and I imagine will be a little quicker; I noticed it's slower than CardBackup - then then CB doesn't give you 128 bit blowfish backup encryption, either.

I set CardBackup for the "regular stuff" and EXCLUDE all docs2go files, libraries, databases and sheets. I have TBackup do those - along with Contacts DBase (which unfortunately it backs up every time regardless of modification).

That takes a little longer but to me it's worth it.

Anyway, the new full TealBackup should be "dropping" shortly.
