T5 Installtion CD

You bought a T5, which this guy couldn't have had for more than a week, and he says he doesn't have the CD or manuals ? And you knew this before you bought the T5? Write back to him and tell him to send you the CD and manuals - there's no way he could lose these in such a short period of time.

Some of this stuff of ebay is stolen and not having a CD or manuals on a brand new T5 can't help but make me suspect this transaction.

first off, i dont know much about PDAs at all, truth is someone bought it for me and i didnt even realize it was this new. ill try to get in touch with them.

in the meantime, as long as there is no serial number involved, i would appreciate if someone could help me out here. i checked palms website, but they dont offer this software for download yet.

EDIT: i was just told this was not bought as "brand new"... when i turned it on it was at the initial setup sequence... there was no memory card in the slot, just the little plastic thing

There is a serial number involved. If you call Palm and the machine hasn't yet been registered, you can get a CD and manuals from them. If it has been registered, they will contact the registered owner to make sure the machine hasn't been stolen. It's not a matter of trying to help you out, it's matter of not assisting people selling stolen merchandise. Since you first said you got the T5 from ebay and now say someone else got it for you, I think you need to go back to that person to find out what happened to the CD and manuals and where he bought this now apparently "used" T5.

The T5 normally doesn't come with a memory card, only a plastic slot cover.

Why would someone say that they got it off of ebay and then change the story?

No box no nothing else - I'd say it was stolen - period and considering that they have not been shipped before 2 days ago except to a select few ....you really need to ask this person that got it for you from where they "stole" it.

woops, just wanna clear this up, didnt mean to cause confusion...

i didnt mean to make it sound like I myself bought it... but like i said im going to get in touch with this person... if i cant get through to them by tonight ill go ahead and contact Palm. Thanks for the help anyways.

Let me be clear....the unit was probably stolen either off the assembly line, or from someone's retail store or otherwise.

As Jim pointed out....this unit hasn't been out long enough for anyone to have "lost" the box or the CD or wires.

You may want to verify the source and advise the purchaser to inform ebay of the condition of the unit received. If it was truly purchased off of ebay - it must have been stolen because this unit has not yet made it to any retail stores.

The only other possibility is that PalmOne shipped it to someone to review and the seller is that reviewer - and they are stupid.
