T3 will not sync Calendar, Tasks, Memo and Contact

I have ran into a rather odd problem with my T3. I have looked through the threads and I don't see anything that matches my issue. Here are my symptoms.

1) When a sync my T3 it locks up on Calendar, Tasks, Memo, and Contact. Cancel from either side (Sync or Desktop) will not result in the sync being cancelled.

2) Requires a soft reboot to get my T3 back and operational.

3) If I disable Calendar, tasks, memo and contact the T3 will successfully sync.

4) I have the desktop installed on two computers and I get the same result when I attempt to sync.

5) I lost data recently and has to use BackupMan to restore. I am not sure if this is related.

6) Data looks in tact. If I set any one of the above features to sync I get the lockup. Also occurs if I tell it to have the handheld overide the desktop.

I have done a hard reset and then a restore from backupman a few times and got the same results. Any suggestion on what to try next or what might be my issue. I almost get a feeling something is corrupt on my unit after backup man restore.

Any help would be appreciate.

Search either here or PalmGear for "dbScan" by Pimlico Software. I believe it will check for and fix corrupt files. It sounds like your Calendar, Tasks, etc. databases might have restored badly.

I sync with two different PCs as well, at home and work. I experienced a problem similar to what you described.

After syncing with one of my PCs and then resyncing later with the second machine, I get a popup message stating that the handheld has been synced with another PC and entries may be duplicated, do I want to contnue. The Sync operation will stop (appears to hang) until I click "Yes" (or No, which cancels the sync operation).

The first time this happened, I was working in another application and the popup message stayed in the background, so I never saw it. After a couple of retries, I discovered the message after minimizing each open application window until the message appeared on the desktop.

This is really annoying, it never used to happen in OS 3.x that I used to have. Furthermore I cannot find any way to disable the message popup.

The only other possibility I can think of is there is a problem with the installed PC software and it needs to be reinstalled.

Cheers,
John

I just ran across this on the Palm site while looking for info on another issue.... (since I don't know how you installed the conduits, just anFYI)...

Depending on your device, you might be synchronizing with Outlook using the Palm Outlook Conduits, or PocketMirror conduits from Chapura. The conduits are installed and activated when you run the CD-ROM that came with your Palm device. The Outlook sync conduits are not included in the web download of Palm Desktop unless the download page mentions them.

I am using DateBk5 2.4a. I got dbscan and installed it on the unit. I installed by disabling the applications listed in the title of the thread. Reason I don't think it is conduit related is because it is happening on both machine.

I ran dbscan.. it got to the third record and I got the following message.

DataMgr.c Line:7399
DMWrite:DMWriteCheck failed.

Locks up hard after this.

Other than that the palm seems to be working any issues.

Any other DB scan programs available?

Thanks guys.. I found a thread on the DateBk4/5 Yahoo group that helped. Here is what I did.

1) Ran newest dbsync and selected Neither as the first option.
2) I then used the menu and selected remove old records.
3) Did this for both Palm source and Palm Home.
4) After that I set my conduit to have the handheld overide the desktop.

This did the trick. Thanks for the suggestions. Moose how do I know what is the third record?

Is there a utility out there that can scan any DB file on a PDA for errors/corruptions? Or would there be so many variables that it wouldn't be possible?

Cheers,
John
