In a fit of generosity I bought my son a TE2 adn my wife a T#. The problem is , her t3 turns itself on in the middle of the night occasionally and in teh day also. Anyone know why or how to stop this? I jsut thought maybe i should turn off beam receive. Any other ideas?

Is there a flashing asterisk in the upper left corner of the screen when it turns itself on? If so, the Palm is responding to an alarm or reminder she has set, most likely in a calendar event.

Is her T3 in some sort of hard case? I did have some problem, while ago, while my T3 was is an hard case because something was touching, or pressing, the screen or the slider. I had to fold a bit the hard case cover to create a bit more of space...
Also, I did notice that my alarms were not working correctly.

Barry,
Next time this happens, let me know exactly what's on the screen when it turns on by itself. Assuming it's not in a case and getting turned on by smoe part of the case pressing on a button, as Luigi suggested, there has to be some third party program that's activating the Palm. Also, let it rest after it turns on and see if goes off again by itself. There are some programs that will turn on the Palm for 30 seconds or so for some housekeeping and then turn off again after about 30 seconds.

Hey
I had a thought...I was having a problem with my T5 turning itself on. It started this right after I installed Hands-Free Sync and set my preferences. I uninstalled it and VIOLA it stopped turning itself on. Apparently there is a bug in this application in that it doesn't turn itself off after the automatic sync.
So, have you installed any third party software that might interfer with turning your PDA off?

Carol
no third party software that I can identify
And Jim,
it turned itself on last night for about 4 minutes and on the screen eas "Today". I have deleted it. But I have the program on my T3 and such behaviour is not occuring.

Besides beam receive, I'd say check the BlueTooth Discoverable setting.

The Treo 600 and 650 (current) both turned on at 3:30AM. There was a lot of dicussion on this and no one ever came up with an answer.

As long as it doesn't come on and stay on - put it under a blanket or face down so as not to notice it......I typically use the 650 in face down mode when travelling so that the "alarm" wakes me up and I don't see the 3:30AM light come on.

It's probably a programmer's joke, ala an Easter Egg approach, to mess with your mind? :)
