T3 staying on after reminders

Hi all.

A silly and annoying problem! When unpowered, my T3 turns itself on when a calander or task reminder occurs and sometimes doesn't turn back off after the auto-off time expires.

Ideas, clues and suggestions greatfully accepted.

Cheers,

Mark

Does it happen when the device is in the cradle? If it does, you need to adjust the power settings in the Prefs. There is an option for leaving the power on when the device is plugged into the cradle. Hope this helps.

Is it this problem? Did it just start after the 1st of Jan.?

From palmOne:

Solution ID: 26450

Tungsten T3 and Tungsten E handhelds will not power off or keep turning on

When the Tungsten E or T3 handheld is powered off, it will turn back
ON after a few seconds. This appears to happen mostly in the first
week of January.

It has been determined that a birthday reminder in a Contacts record
that spans past the new year (Jan 1st) will trigger the issue.

For example: A Contacts record that has a birth date of Jan 04, 1970
and a reminder has been set to go off 7 days before the event. Since
the reminder is triggered prior to January 1st, and the birthday is
after the 1st, the handheld may exhibit this issue.

Workaround:
When possible, set the reminder to go off after Jan 1st. In the
example above changing the reminder to 3 days will prevent the issue.

To change the Birthday reminder:
1. Go to the Contacts application and tap on the record with the birthday
2. Tap on Edit.
3. Scroll down to the Birthday field and tap on the birth date.
4. Change the reminder. In the example above change the number of days to 3.

Or

You can do steps 1-3 above and disable the reminder by un-checking the
Reminder box.

Thanks for the feedback.

Its only noticable when out of the cradle as I've got the T3 set to always on when in the cradle.

It could be something to do with reminders crossing Dec/Jan but then I don't have any birthdays stored in contacts, only as events in the calender.

Next time it happens I'll look more closely at the reminder in question and see what's what.

Thanks again,

Mark

Do you have a BT dongle or something close by that might be triggering the BT recognition to stay on in an attempt to handshake with this other device?

Just a WAT.
