T3 internet connection question.

Hi Guys,

Ive just purchased a T3 (havent got it yet) and I was wondering what I need to access my home internet. My pc dosent have blue tooth but I have a SMC2404WBR wirless router will this do the trick ?. Or do I need to buy a Bluetooth dongle to connect it to the net. Also If anybody could point me in the direction of a good setup guide Id really appreciate it.
 
I'd suggest the newly released Wifi card from PalmOne. This would be the simplest way to configure access and the fastest and most reliable.

BT is only good for about a max of 30 feet which means that you can "roam" around the whole house. Wifi connection should be good for about 800 feet.

You can do it with an additional BT dongle added to your router or PC but you probably won't be happy with the lack of range.
 
Let me get a few things clear, sorry im new to PDA. I thought that the T3 had built in WiFi already and what is this card you refer too ? can I have a link please. Also I only have a very small home and really dont need to go more than 30 feet anyway. I read in the specifications that is supports 802.11b standard and so does my router so shouldent it connect straight to it ?
 
Wifi is not built in to the T3 and I'm not certain where your getting the "supports 802.11b" quote from.

as Rugby points out a BT dongle should do the trick but I'd make certain to get more information from the supplier of such a dongle. If they make one that connects to your router that might be better than one connected to the PC because of connection issues.

Nope only Pocket PC. You can buy one from PalmOne specifically designed for the T3 and Zire 72.

It's $129 here.
 
I'd really suggest you check with the local Palm User Groups and see if any one of them has been successful in "connecting" to the net via BT and the T3. I've never tried for various reasons so I don't want to misguide you ...it may be possible it may not. Just not my thing.
