T3 does Hard Reset in Cradle

big timer

I have had this problem on and off for three months. Periodically, while in the synch/recharge cradel, my T3 does a Hard Reset. When I pick it up, I find myself looking the screen where you are asked to hit the targets to calebrate the stylus....

If I proceed, the synch process restores everything but it takes about 15 minutes to do it.

Why could this be happening? Is the sych cradle defective? Should I just get a snych cable and plug it into a USB port? (I believe the cable will provide the recharge power to keep the battery up...)

I have had same thing happen twice, both in the last 2 months. I hear a "blip bleep" - and it's gone. I use JackFlash, so it's a simple matter of restoring the databases from the card - but very annoying. Here's what I found helps . . .

Make sure the wall socket end is plugged into a power strip, and control that power to the charger with the power strip on/off button. In other words, give it a dedicated power strip with a switch.

ALWAYS make sure the power strip (and therefore charger) are ON before you put the unit in the cradle. Do not place on cradle first with no "juice."

Both times when it happened to me, there was no power going to the charger and I believe the chargers may have some sort of grounding short. By putting it on a "dead" cradle, something bridges the terminals and causes the fatal/hard reset.

Again, since making sure the power was on at time of cradle connection - no problems.

I also hear the double beep. My cradel always has power to it, but sometimes the green charging light on the T3 does not light so maybe there is a short somewhere in the cradle itself.

The T3 had two longer prongs on the outside of the cradle. These were "spring loaded" and are the two grounds. If these get bent or corroded they can (I'm not saying they are) cause hard resets.

You can also clean the contacts on both the cradle and the T3 by using a rubber eraser to remove any corrosion. Take care with those two outside ones on the T3 cradle.

Also check for any other bent pins on the cradle as well and be certain they are properly aligned. You can carefully realign them - but be certain to disconnect from power before doing so otherwise you might get realigned in a negative way.

I've also ocassionally had to make sure my T3 was seasted properly on the cradle. Sometimes the charge light will be on, but something isn't properly connected. What happens is that when I press the Hotsync button nothing happens. The problem is solved by just pushing the T3 down in the cradle to make the connection. I've never had the reset problems you're experiencing though.
