T3 Connector Problems

I have been having problems using my Stowaway Portable Keyboard as well as Card Export. When I attempt to use either of these I immediately get a "Fatal Alert" message with "Fatal Exception" being the information in the window. The "reset" button in the window does nothing. My only recovery is a soft reset.

I finally thought that my connectors could be an issue. I've attached a picture of my T3 connectors and I'd like someone to indicate if their T3 connectors look the same as mine. When looking at it from the bottom end, with screen facing up, the 1st, 3rd and 5th connectors from the right appear to go from full width at the top to a point on the lower right of each of them--giving the impression that they are tilted to the right (on the bottom) and you can see black plastic rather than the gold connector. All other connectors are a full rectangle and do not have this appearance.

Can someone tell me if all your connectors look the same as all others or if the 1st, 3rd and 5th from the right are not the same as the others?

Thanks,

Brian

PS. If they are the same as mine any other thoughts on why these two programs which use the connectors give me a fatal exception, yet I can still hotsync?

That doesn't look good. :(

The connectors on mine all look identical like the rest of the connectors on yours.

I can't tell from the photo if the gold plating has actually peeled away or if dirt has covered these connectors (it's not covered so it's possible).

If it's dirt you may be able to wipe it away CAREFULLY with a toothpick. Do this at your own risk. If the plating has come off, I don't know what to suggest.

Also check the connectors on your keyboard / cradle etc as one of these could have damaged the T3.

As for your PS, the keyboard could easily use different elements of the universal connector. My hotsync cable only has 7 connectors (from left 1,2,3,4,7,8,16). Only one of these (16) is showing problems on your photo.

gerryc,

Thanks for the reply. I can't get my hands on another T3 to compare, hence the reason for the post including the image even though not the best quality.

It is not very easy to see the exact problems on the connectors even with the T3 in my hands, but I am pretty sure they are not just dirty-it appears as though the plating has actually come off on these three for some reason.

I bought the extended warranty at Circuit City so hope they'll replace-- now if I can only locate it....

Make sure you check the connectors on whatever you plug into the T3. I suspect that one of these has some faulty spring connectors at the positions that have been scratched.

You may be able to get a new T3 but if the underlying problem is not sorted, the new one may get damaged in the same way.
