T3 and Wi-FI card problems

I have a T3 and I bought a Palm One Wi-FI card. I installed everythig and tested on my home wireless network. Signal is excellent, but I cannot connect with either VErsa Mail or Web Pro, I always have a "DNS error encountered".
I've readed, in another forum, that some folks got the same problem, that they resolved with an hard reset, and installing the Wi-Fi software from scratch, before any other software. I would try the same, unless somebody has a different suggestion. But, I have Jack Sprat/FLash/Safe installed and running, and I'm not sure to remember how to do the hard reset and after that backup all my file, without crushing everything...

Go to prefs, select wi-fi, wait for it to connect, when you have the signal press 'info' and look at the details.
You should see a list of

Network SSID:
Channel:
MAC Address:
IP Address:
Subnet Mask:
Router:
Pref DNS:
Alt DNS:

All of these should have values, with the possible exceptions of 'Alt DNS:' which is optional, and 'Router:' which could in theory also be optional but then you wouldn't be able to reach outside your LAN.
MAC Address is your own card's address. The SSID and Channel is from the wi-fi access point, if you see anything else not set (with the possible exceptions mentioned above) then there's a problem with the DHCP server on the network you're connecting to -- it isn't providing you with what you need (e.g. DNS (Name service).
 
Everything, in Info, is filled by numbers, apart, as you said, AltDNS.But, I cannot connect, once I try with either Versa Mail or WebPro, I have the same DNS error. Signal strength is excellent, my network works fine. DNS error that I found other members of this and other forums, already reported. I don't know, however, how to fix it. I browsed PalOne web site, but with no luck. I'd like try to reinstall the wifi software, but I'like to be sure to get rid of the one I have actually installed. And I would not perform any hard reset, because I would to reinstall everything, after that.
Any suggestion?
Ah, I also tested my card with hotspots, it is exactly the same. Good signal, but unable to connect, due to the DNS error...

One more thing I forgot: The IP address should not be 169.something, that would indicate an error in the network association.

I tried with and without Proxy Server, but I guess that's not the problem. Somebody suggested to set the DNS manually, but the trials I've done do not work either.
Now, I spend 129 bucks on my card, and I'd like to be able to use it. It is a real pity that Palm support is awful. THat's an indication that, maybe, we should migrate to PocketPC...

Have you actually called Palm support and discussed this problem with them? I know there were some of the early wifi cards that had hardware defects and they will exchange the card for a new one. Since it seems you've already done everything I would suggest in terms of software issues, a hardware problem becomes more likely.
 
I'd call them at (813) 313-4913 rather than e-mail them. They will want to walk you through some troubleshooting steps before authorizing the exchange. Doing this by e-mail will become a long, drawn out process.

There's also a Mexican support number at 01 800 1234 737 if you want to give that a try first but I suspect that wifi card issues will be better handled by US support.

I'd like to do one more last trial before PalmOne Support: a hard resent and installation of wi-fi updated drivers, before installing any other software. In some other forums, I readed that several users resolved this issue in this way.

Now, I have some questions about this:
I'd like to perform the hard reset, install the drivers, and after be able to recover all my databases, otehr software, etc. Which is the best way to do this? I mean, I perfor an hotsync and backup on an SD card, but how recover all that without overwriting the wi-fi drivers with old ones? May I install the drivers from a backup SD card?

YESSSS!!!

It did work! I can now connect my T3 with a wireless network.
THe hard resent, followed by new installation of the wifi drivers and recovery of my infos, did the trick.
I don't know why Palm One does not suggest such installing method, or provides us of better drivers...
It looks that power consumption decreased, too.

I don't know why either since the first thing Palm usually suggests is a hard reset and reinstall of the drivers. For some reason, I had assumed you had already done this. I'm glad to hear the hard reset actually did some good this time.
