T2 digitizer doesn't respond

My Tungsten T2 , which is about 2yrs old, has suddenly got a problem with the digitizer - it won't respond to screen touches at all. I've tried both soft and hard reset but can get nowhere. Is there any way I can fix this without getting a new digitizer, which is not financially viable?
 
If a hard reset doesn't seem to fix the issue then I'm afraid it's hopeless. I know of no software that would enable a disabled hardware issue.
