OK boys and girls...

long term palm user here, in a hotel in Seoul and my T1 just went "fizz" :(

to be honest I've been happy with my T1 for a few years now and haven't been keeping up to date with the PDA scene?

Gonna go out and get a new one tomorrow... suggestions to what I get?

need:

instant on
good diary / to do function - have high customized db5 running (or did have)
pdf viewer
excel compatibility
small form factor

cheers

Paul

No answer here - just same question. My PDA is a bit more vintage (Vx - newly-replaced battery, with unsatisfactory results), and my requirements are concomitantly modest.

Reading about the Te2 and Tx have left me feeling a bit overserved and underwhelmed. Little, annoying problems for things that provide more than I need anyway.

Seems that insufficient attention is being paid to Palm OS, leaving only one player on the block. I'm probably going to get a bunch of Vxes until things improve.

Just my impression. I hope someone corrects me here...

I would personally recommend the TX. The TE2 is mostly good from what I hear and has the best Palm screen yet.

I went to the TX from the T3. It is just as fast as the T3 IMHO and much much faster than the T1.

It comes with Documents to Go for native excel usage.

The best Palm I have ever had (IIIx, m505, T1, T3, TX).

DB5 works great. 32k memo size limit. good popup keyboard, good graffiti entry areas (two to choose from)

Well, I went to OfficeMax and picked up the E2 for $199.

The install crashed my pc (W2k w/SP4 & all patches) - but it restarted fine, with the installation apparently complete.

Synced ok, from what I can tell so far.

The Desktop app doesn't seem to sort records correctly (and I've erased and re-entered some field data) - and there may have been a field shift in the auto-upgrade from the old database: e.g., a telephone number shows up in the Company column. Oops. This merits more review before concluding that it's BAD.

And how do I get Graffiti 1 back? This Graffiti 2 is ok for first-timers - and I get the value of the extra utility - but the old pen-strokes were simply simpler.

Oy. Well, this should last me for a couple of years, anyway - unless I get smart and dump my computers sooner than that.

Cheers,
Jed
