T|X ?? life drive??

i know u've been asked this, but here's the thing:
i live in the middle east, in general, palm products are rare commodity, i've been hunting for a T|X for nine months now, no luck, finally i found some1 that told me he's waiting for a palm shipment including TX, with expected price of 370 USD, i really want a TX

but today, a new lifedrive crossed my path, the guy asked for 515 USD...

i never thought about a LifeDrive, (being too big and heavy), I did some comparing, the LD is 50 grams heavier, and 4 mm thicker, i think they are identical in the software and hardware specs, with the VoiceRecorder and 4 GB on LD favor, and i thought i will spend about a 100$ for a 1G SD card....

is there any difference between the 2 (apart from the mentioned above), the LD will put more strain on my pocket, i dont know, any ideas or suggestions, please pardon me for repeating the thread and boring u with details, but i cant exactly go to the mall and diddle with gadgets....

The LD is heavier and slower for the following reasons:

It uses a 4GB hard drive with virtually no RAM. Therefore, it will take a little longer to open programs because it must read the data from the HD instead of RAM.

It is noticeably slower. I had one for about 30 days when they first came out. I couldn't live with the increased size and weight but a bigger factor was this slowness. Specifically, Agendus took about 4 seconds to load and on my 650 it's less than 2 secs.

Now you have to consider compromise - if you don't want to carry around a couple of SD Cards then the LD is the way to go but if you want to carry pictures, music and other media and don't mind the slower initial access - then buy the LD.

Ideally, you could load your 2 or 3 favorite programs and see what I'm talking about.
 
what do u exactly mean by "slower initial access", is it slower the first time only, or each time i open an application?

the problem is i didnt have a PDA before, this would be my first one...i've been reading this forum for about 2 months, and i got a good picture, but still, it's different when u own one..

thanx for clearing the RAM thing, it's weird, why would they do that :confused:

just two more question,(1) i know i can use sync with BT and wi-fi in addition to the USB cable, can i use the drive-mode in the LD using BT, or i'll have to hook it up with the USB cable...
(2) does the LD supports GPS?

and since the two guys have the same OS, i assume that the two can use the same software, i checked a medical site, and their list of supported palm devices didnt include LD,i hope i still can discuss software stuff and issues on this forum, i love this forum :D ..

the T series is far more popular the LD (number of threads say so), so i'm afraid i'll stuck with a device that is software-picky...

i've been reading the LD forum, and a dozen people mentioned that their devices had locked down and froze, and they had to return it, the TX seems to run more smoothly with a fewer incidence of crashes... and now i'm really scared , i cant return it, i'll be buying it from a small cell phone dealer :eek: ...

i'm sorry for this surge of stupid question, but it's a big decision, i will be eating 2 meals a day for the next 23 years or so :D ,
