Hi -
I'm hoping to upgrade from my Nokia 3650, which I love but which is getting a bit long in the tooth. I'm specifically hoping for something with quad-band, more phone memory and a better/faster web browser; a better camera would be nice too. I'm in the NE US, on T-Mobile with the $20 Internet plan, which I believe means I could take advantage of EDGE and occasional 850MHz roaming.
I absolutely require silent and vibration-only modes (I like my MIDI ringtone but it's usually off) and Bluetooth, as I carry a large number of phone numbers as well as addresses and birthdays from my home Mac's Address Book in the phone. I've been generally pretty pleased with Series 60 (particularly the multitasking - I pause websurfing to take calls, fetch phone numbers from the address book while talking and so on), but am also intrigued by the prospect of full keyboards and larger/more detailed screens (particularly for text messaging, which I do pretty often, as well as Web browsing, bookreading and videos).
I'm a little budget-conscious but am immensely curious about the possibilities. I'm pretty thoroughly confused by the explosion of Nokia technologies and wondering what I'd gain and/or lose by going with another technology (I'm thinking of the Treo 650p or one of the new Motorolas, such as the PEBL, but there may be other good solutions out there).
I'd be tempted to stay with my own phone except for memory issues. Despite a 128MB MMC card I have memory bottlenecks and bugs in the phone which Nokia cannot resolve by phone; I can't email from the phone any longer (though I can still read email) or send anything via Bluetooth from the phone (I have to remove the card to a cardreader); I get system errors when I try. Can't save photos directly to the MMC card any longer or record videos. Can't run Opera anymore - not enough memory - and Doris Browser gets me only so far. (I suppose something about my MMC card could be corrupted, but I backed it up to another MMC card which gives the same result when used in the phone, so it's either firmware, hardware or something to do with what I have on the card.)
I've tried to search the Forums for a good upgrade path; unfortunately I find most recent 3650 citations link to the phones people used to have, and I haven't found discussions of my question. Help would be most appreciated.
