T Mobile UK - BIS - Blackberry Browser

I am on T Mobile BIS, and emailed them to ask if I could get the Blackberry browser instead of the tzones, so that I could download Google Talk.

I just got the following reply:

"The t-zones browser is the only browser available to prosumer blackberry users at the moment I'm afraid. There is talk of releasing a new browser in the future, but nothing has been confirmed.

With regards BIS 2.0, we are told that this will be released in 'the 2nd quarter' of this year i.e. between now an August of this year. I would imagine it would be before august but again, we have had no official communication regarding the BIS 2.0 release date."

Does anyone know if this is actually true.

Well, have no idea if that is true, but here's what I find ironic:

You all get the newer versions of the phone over in europe before they hit the US on T-mobile...

BUT...

We get the newer software before you get it in Europe...

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~Hi - I too have been trying to get hold of the blackberry browser, as I wanted to play with the push content on the blackberry help website, but I was told that the only browser available was the t-zones one too. However - if you go to blackbery.com/googletalk you can install googletalk via ie - it has to be the pc that syncs your blackberry though as it checks for the blackberry driver. I think that to get the blackberry browser, t-mob uk need to send service books - joe

thats B.S because i had the blackberry browser on my pearl and my 8800 after that.

but yeah i only just came across this because i just bought my curve from them today and have no blackberry browser...just t-zones...

the same happened with my 8800 but i got it switched..i think i called them but im really putting off calling again because they are useless lol!

if your still looking to get it changed..

call them up, and ask to be put through to technical support..

from there tell them your only able to get the t-zones browser and you would like the blackberry browser or "web 'n' walk" browser as the call it over here..

they then send you a service book that you cant get by sending them yourself..

then go in to

options > advanced settings > browser > and change all the drop down's to web'n' walk

except for "default WAP browser configuration"

then that should work

actually doing this alone should work, i think by default the browser is set up to go to t-zones. when you said that it set up for t-zones only do you mean when you open up the "browser" it takes you to t-zone, (web/download/my account, etc..), if so another way is when you're there just hit menu and choose "go-to" and enter any address you need to go to...
