I ordered my 8900 on Thursday evening (2.12) with Express Shipping. I received the order confirmation/processing text message on Friday morning around 11 a.m. The order hadn't shipped by Monday (2.17) so I called 611 and the Rep told me that the phone should have shipped out on Friday, but the good news is that the phone is NOT back ordered so it should ship by the end of the day.

The phone did not ship yesterday, so I called back this morning to find out that the phone is now back ordered and the Rep is "not sure why I received the order confirmation but I will be the first one to get it when it is back in stock."

Needless to say, I am not thrilled with this turn of events. If the phone was back ordered initially I have no problem with that. However, I do not understand why my particular phone was in stock yesterday morning and is now back ordered. Any suggestions or ideas about what to do now would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 
I recieved the same info i ordered mine on 2/11 wednesday and to only check ups today to see no shipping has occurred. Called 611 to receive the same story about phone being on back order. Why didn't they say hey due to demand the phone is on back order. They should have known how many units they have to sell. Bad customer service on their part. They are not charging the express shipping since that is obviously not happening. They have no idea when i will get my phone.
I am quite upset about this.
 
They said they will still express ship it but not charge since i am not getting it when i was suppose to receive it by.
Just disappointing. I already download the new OS and want to start playing with themes.
 
Ive noticed this happens with every carrier for every new phone. When the Flip came out, 8120s were being shipped instead of 8220s. Bad batches of ATT Bolds. And i beleive we all remember Verizons Storm fiasco. Too many People, not enough storms. It happens. but we all eventually get our phones. At least they are saying "Im Sorry" by not charging the shipping.
 
I totally agree. I don't really care about them comping the express shipping charge. I would gladly pay the $18 for them to fulfill the order as promised. I am more frustrated with their failure to keep me informed and to manage their inventory in such a way that the web site accurately reflects the status of their stock in real time.
 
this pisses me off!! i called at 10am pacific time WEDS 2/11. Day of launch! ordered it, extended my contract, and received MYfavs for free. I then received the order receipt via txt on Thurs. I was expecting to receive my new 8900 Fri... and no go. Then Monday. NO GO! Then i checked UPS this morning (TUE 2/17) and the same, NO INFO. I am afraid to say that i think i am one of the unlucky ones to be effected by the backorder :0( i am going to call, get my $20 taken off my bill for the "expedited shipping" and demand a free month of service. this is ridiculous! Not happy at all, and i have been with T-MO since 2002!
 
It is very annoying i know people who ordered after me and already received theirs i am not talking hours i am talking days. My friend got his today and he ordered friday i ordered wednesday. I think i have a right to be upset.
 
we ALL have a right to be upset. It's one thing if T-Mo was up front and said it would be on backorder, but for people to order it on Fri and get theirs before the people that ordered them Weds, thats NOT cool!
 
I agree with you 100%. The other thing that aggravates me is that I keep hearing about people who ordered on Friday and got it on Monday (with STANDARD shipping). I would love to know what method or algorithm they are using to decide which orders to fill/ship and which orders to place on back order. They are certainly not shipping them in the order received.
 
This is just insane!!! I'm wondering how many were made, and how many were released to T-Mo for the release. I went to 2 stores this weekend so i can test it out, and they were both sold out! BLAH!
 
We opened a new Family Plan account last night and ordered one 8900 (the other was a regular Samsung flip phone). Checked the order status today at TMO site and it says, Partially Shipped - "Your order has been partially shipped. We will ship the rest of your order out to you as soon as possible at no extra charge...".

Guess they shipped the Samsung first and I have to wait for my 8900 until it's available (bummer )

I agree. TMO should tell us if 8900 is "in stock" or is in "back order" .

P.S. - We didn't go to a TMO store but instead ordered through phone.
