T Mobile Insurance - Anyone use it?

Normally they require you go to a police station and get a police report. The reason for that is that you are now legally saying you lost your phone and can be prosecuted for theft by deception if you didn't and said you did.

They will send you your replacement refurbished phone (if they have them in stock) or a replacement new model phone (if they don't which is rare) when you contact them about a loss. Once the new unit arrives, it will come with all the instructions to send the old one back (even if lost or stolen - if you recover the device they ask you to send it back to them) along with a prepaid mailing label. Normally you just put the old unit (minus battery, battery cover, and anything else that didn't come with the new unit) back in the same box, seal the box, place the label over the old one (always recommended to remove the old label in case the new one comes off) and send it back to them.

i do not use it

although I have swam with two phones, dropped one in a toilet and have thrown three against a wall all within the this last summer. so maybe insurance could have been useful, but oh well.

Keep insurance on phone since I'm use to having pricey phones. Last phone (Razor) died just after a year, so standard warranty wouldn't cover it. Lost my first Pearl and called to have it replaced without any problems-even sent me a brand new Pearl and leather case. Did have to file a police report for phone which I thought a little strange.

I can count the number of times I've had to use it (11 BlackBerry's, 3 HP iPAQ 6315's, 2 SK 2's, and 1 SK 3 prior to the one I have now) but FORTUNATELY the highest I've been stuck with is $100 for water damage (that never happened) they claimed when I sent a BB back 2 yrs ago. I just had to warranty my 9 month old SK3 last month cause it would only open the MP3 player.

but if the phone is new and they are going for 200-500 range then its worth the insurance. but i agree if the phone is older and the phone is going for alot cheaper price then i think it should be less

I've heard from a few people that I know with berry/smart phones that TMO would send them a refurb model similar to their previous model for a fee ranging from $50-100. Why not save yourself the monthly charge and just buy a refurb phone from TMO directly if you needed to? I never had to use the insurance however with the economy going the way it is ...ever cent (every 599 cents per month) counts.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~true that kind of like paying your own escrow at the end of the year instead of having the back taking it out and making interest off it

never was useful for me......... dropped the insurance a couple years ago... wouldn't sign up again.. doesn't cover loss unless stolen and there's a police report filed... doesn't cover physical or water damage....the darn thing doesn't leave my side so i cant justify it....

you have to remember though..if you didnt qualify for the upgrade you would have paid full price, so your lucky that you did.....insurance is good for people who JUST upgraded or have an expensive phone thats is valued over the $110, not guaranteed that its going to be used or new...we really dont know...only Asurion does.

You must have had a private party insurance provided by the retailer where you purchased your phone. T-Mobile's insurance does cover for loss, stolen, physical, or liquid damage. Loss or Stolen does require a police report but that is to keep fraud to a minimum.

keep in mind also that the studies on PDA phones actually recently have proved that with 10 phones, 5 new and 5 refurb, most customers actually prefer the referbs over the new phones almost 80 percent of the time in a blind study. Nto to mention, ill bet I would track the IMEIs on some of the alleged new phones on here and find they actually are not first cycle phones.. lol.. SOME OF YOU ALREADY MIGHT HAVE REFURBS!!!! ha ha ha
