T-Mobile in Mazatlan

Can someone tell me if I can use my Pearl with T-Mobile in Mazatlan, Mexico without swapping SIMs? Will I be charged if I have free long distance?

What I really want to know, is what is the cheapest way to use my Pearl in Mexico? How about email and other data transfers?

Hi YMark, How long are you spending in mexico? Pearls seem to be more unlockable than other BBs, if not unlocked already. You will probably be able to roam in Mexico but might be better off with a local SIM, just for voice and SMS, if you are unlocked. A word of advice, if you do roam, resist the temptation to access the net. There will be quite a high initial charge even if you download no data at all.
 
I'll be in Mexico for a week. I've only been with T-Mobile since last week. How do I tell if my phone is unlocked? It sounds like I would be better off just leaving the phone at home. That would kind of stink.
 
If you purchased your phone through TMOBILE then it does NOT come unlocked. The pearl is a WorldPhone, so it will work on tmobile if there is covereage in the area down there. or it will roam on another tower in that area. Call Tmobile up and have them add on the International Roaming package for the month or for however long you want. As far as i know it doenst cost anything, just allows your plan to access International roaming.

But like giamburrasca said, try not to do anything on roaming besides the voice in that country.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i had NO luck Tmo for phone (razr) or data (8700g) when I was in Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco or Huatulco Mexico. Hope you have better luck than I did. And I had paid for international service on my BB
 
when you are on the phone ask T-mobile about the Mexico Canada plan!! It's not a free plan but If I recall correctly it's a discount to call and recieve
 
Yea i thought there eas some kinda cheaper plan there if you temporarily go out of the country. Try it hope it works. Or I THINK they can supply you with a International phone for the few days youll be away.
