Hey, what does everybody know about the new T mobile Hotspots at Home thats coming out soon? My friend works for T Mobile COrp and he was telling me about it, sounds nice

Supposedly, its coming in another month or so. ANy calls originating at home will be free, as well as any calls from any other t mobile hotspot...

This is part of the new UMA service that they have been trialing in the Washington Market for the past year. It will allow a UMA enabled phone to seamlessly transfer a call from the cellular network to a wi-fi network. It is supposed to be $19.99 extra a month for unlimited UMA use on top of a regular plan. Hopefully the 8320 will launch the same time they launch UMA nationwide. We are just waiting for official word and timing on launch dates.

Damn. Thats sweet. If I knew I would have gone with less minutes on my plan.

I would not be surprised if we see the Hotspot@home drop right around the time the iphone does..... But no blackberry UMA devices untill RIM kicks out one with wifi...

The TMO @ Home service is a WIFI connection within your home or any other HotSpot like at your local Starbucks.... You'll get unlimited calling while connected to these servers. And when it first comes out you also need to buy a @HOME connection based phone. and the modem is supposed to be $49.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate, and you have to have broadbrand internet in order for these function to work correctly. Also, the modem gives off its own RF (radio frequency) and that will give you pretty much full service while connected. If a phone call generates while your connected to it, and then you stay on the phone and you leave and go down the street, or somewhere else, Its still free because the call generated from the location. Same way your nights and weekends work. If you recieve a call at 8:59 pm and you stay on the phone for five minutes it takes 5 whenever minutes off your allowed minute plan, but if you were to wait one more minute, those 5 were free.

Price on the WIFI @ HOME its $9.99 for individuals, or $19.99 for families and this is the promo price, not sure when its going up.

Service is expected to drop Early August, and T-Mobile is also getting a new credit program, where our highest deposit is supposed to be $175

Huh can you explain this more?
What's home connection based phone for and what modem do I neen? Is this Internet modem or voip box.

ok, the modem, is like what you would use to get highspeed internet, and the phone is a phone that is capable with WIFI, which most of TMO's phone will be phased in kind of like the myFaves compatable phones were, before the modem and the program's release.

My understanding is that the UMA phones will work with any wireless router, but if you use the TMO router the security is smooter and the power usage is more efficient (read that as more battery life). With a UMA phone you can use the WIFI connection without the plan, it will count against your minutes but will provide you with your own, personal signal for those of us with poor indoor signals. At $20 for families I cant wait -- JKAI - you are hearing August nationwide launch?
