T-Mobile ever upgrade their software?

i was just kicking around the tmo site and notice that they're still at 4.2.1.17b. does tmo ever upgrade their software? seems like they're stuck in the 20th century. i haven't had any probs with v94 from rogers so i guess it doesn't really matter. it's just that there's a comfort level gained from installing upgrades from your own carrier. like, 'this is a legit upgrade that tmo will support' kinda feeling, ya know?

I have been debating whether or not to download 4.2 from another carrier.
It makes no sense that T-Mobile doesn't have 4.2 for download.

Especially for your 8700g -- 4.2 is available everywhere else. I think TMO would rather sell you the new phone rather than give you the updated OS. The 8700g with 4.1 and with 4.2 are two completely different animals -- and TMO doesn't get a penny if you download it from somewhere else. I got the 4.2 for my son's 8700g at Vodafone -- works like a charm!

For some reason it just doesn't seem to be the top priority of t-mobile to have it updated so I stopped waiting around for it, I believe I am using the most current up to date version via A1 in Australia. 4.2.1.101 and it works great, so that's why I think why bother waiting for your carrier specific version? and you can find instructions on how to install a different carrier's version on your BB in the forums specific to your phone.

Has anybody ever called and asked? All they say is that there is one on its way and thats what they told me 2 months ago. I don't see why they are the only ones not putting out updates. We are at .101 while they are only at .64 I would really feel comfortable updating with there OS not others carriers.

I believe the latest 4.2 for the 8700 is at the Blackberry site https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4. It's for AT&T but if you delete the vendor.xml file it'll work on your TMobile device. First, have the newest DM installed on your computer; second, download the OS at the aforementioned link; third, install; fourth, delete the vendor.xml file (it's in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader); fifth, attach the 8700 to the computer, start DM, and it will take it from there.

Do a backup first -- also, the cold reboot from an OS change takes a looooooooooooooooong time, so be patient!

Well after going through BB traning this week it's know that T-Mobile/BB upgraded the servers and the latest version of the BlackBerry core network which will allow users to start using the 4.2.2.xx which isn't out at all yet. Lots of newer neat things to do on the same phones.
