T-MOBILE (AT&T) blocking maps software??

i have heard that t-mobile block the maps software on blackberries, is this true?

i have an 8900 on T-MOBILE and am struggling to get the maps, i have tried to download from the BB website but it won't work.

anyone else on T-MOBILE or AT&T have this problem?? did you find a way round this??
 
both T-Mobile and AT&T block them by Default because they want the stoopid masses to use telenav, most people don't even know about the maps feature to my knowledge their is no work around but I am still new to the modding try google maps
 
I have At&T and they have BB Maps blocked, I deleted that Tel-Nav crap and downloaded GoogleMaps.

I have the bold and am on tmo; My blackberry maps is working but slow. I use google maps and I use that because its better than BB maps. So I got rid of it. BB maps is not better than google maps. I thought that RIM would have made an better version but they didn't.
 
I have an 8100 and the maps workf fine for me. But I use google maps so I deleated the BB maps. If I was you I'd take a look at google maps and see what you thought. I like it. It works great. No problems with it what so ever.

In order to access the bb maps you would have to unlock it I believe.and I meen to remove the vendorID in the corresponding folder. To toH program files-common files-research in motion-shared then open up the "blackberry ALX" file and open with notepad use its built in search to look for the vendorID and remove them.~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~
 
very interesting information, thanks! I updated the OS on my BB lately and noticed no BB maps icon anymore in the applications. I didn't really care because like most posters, google maps is better, but I will definitely check that out. Amazing what you can unlock/lock in tghe blackberry.alx file
 
Apparently not lol Thats how I got my BB maps, I didn't download it. Though I myself am caught in a bit of confusion with this because I don't remember if I already had the BB maps pre-installed or if indeed I did unlock it lol! I have the 8320 from TMO. I do know this for sure, I deleted all the vendor ID's from the ALX file and also deleted the Vendor XML file. So if I am wrong about any of this please correct me (anyone)
