T-Mo vs. Next/Sprint

I'm looking to move carriers. I have been having major problems with texting through Nextel. HQ for sprint sent me a free 8830 to try for 30 days and then if I'm not happy they will let me out of the contract. Just found out my same plan on Sprint will run me $100 more per month. Looking to find out what you all think of the hotspot feature and if it has saved you $$'s? What your opinion is of the service. Looking at the 8320? I use about 3000 minutes a month.

Not sure what the breakdown in your minutes usage is (Anytime vs. Nights & Weekends, etc.) but if you have any inclanation towards not jumping ship I would suggest checking out the Sprint SERO plans. The BIS plans change officially on this Sunday. www.sprint.com/sero

I switched from Nextel to Tmo as well. The BB plans are cheaper and Tmo always has the new handsets.
The hotspot at home is great, even though only about half my calls are on wifi, I still dropped my plan from the 1000 min to 300 min and I pay less, but use more min.
If they're letting you out of the contract for free, then I say go for it.
You said you had an issue with texting and tmo's unlimited txt for $15 is a godsend. Although some have reported issues with MMS. I can send SMS and MMS no problem on my 8320. And only very few incoming MMS have issues of not retrieving.
Good luck.

i had sprint and tried tmobile for a second phone and there service was the worst i have ever had nothing but dropped calls and i live and travel in major cities Baltimore, DC my min plan cant be touched by any carrier and tmobile has a cheaper data plan but they charge like $60-$70 bucks for PAM (phone as modem) whith sprint it is free but the last straw was when i called about my signal and they told me i couldnt use my phone in my house WTF and i know this is a major problem because they came out with the hotspot at home which they charge you extra for i say go with sprint or anyother carrier for that matter

I just switched from Sprint to T-mo a little over a month ago. The only thing I miss is the EVDO speeds. I also have to say that the CDMA network is a lot more reliable. I get the GSM fade but that only really happens when I'm underground (parking structure) or in a big building.

Its all really a perference most carriers willl et you try them out for 30 days but if you are porting numbers thats where it kinda gets tricky if you want to try out more than one carrier

Can we please compare plans for a moment. Sprint has a plan for $30, unlimited live tv, on demand videos, streaming videos and radio and music, unlimited data, emails, text and instant messaging. Add all that up for TMO and please tell me what the cost is. Im not saying Sprint is cheaper, I am truly just asking because I have no idea what TMO plans are.

No way Sprint will be $100 more. What plan are you on please? There is a plan for unlimited phone calls for $119.99, so there is no way you are paying $19.99 now.

Airave should be live January, check it out. $15 or $30 per month for unlimited calls over broadband/cdma service, not wifi.

I haven't really considered any other carriers - have been with Tmo forever. I get 1000 minutes, unlimited data and SMS all for $60. The @home add on is another $10 for unlimited WiFi calls. I would recommend them to anyone.

I love the WiFi feature. I get much faster speeds over WiFi.

Are you referring to high-speed connections? I use my BB as modem, and T-Mo considers it part of the unlimited data plan... i.e. I pay $20 for the data plan and then BB-as-modem is free.

Phone as a modem is free for TMO! Its way cheaper than sprint, they get better phones sooner, hot spot if you get a bad signal at home, & customer service is great! Get away from sprint if you can!

I would have suggested t-mobile back in the day when I worked for them but then I came to the understand that coverage just stinks with t-mobile. When I lived in baltimore I could not get service anywhere, and I tried several different phones. Go with sprint, you can get the same deal, if not as close as possible plus you get your nights starting at 7pm not 9pm.. Plus sprint's EVDO is so much faster then EDGE... and when 3GSM comes out EVDO will still be fast, GSM is in the past for the US, it's just not there yet.. go CDMA....

ohh and as for @home, Sprint will be having that to.. plus we have the Pick3, plus we will be having nights starting at 5 (in the future)

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~well... Sprints cost is ridiculous... Maybe faster speeds, but where I live you don't get service with them for miles, and tmobile gets service and then the signal is better because of H@H... GSM is not a thing of the past...in case you haven't lived through the metamorphasis of the cell-phone, Verizon as well as Sprint is losing CDMA by 2011.. Reason being... The government is taking it away, its out dated technology and they aren't paying to support more. GSM is more reliable if they would put more resources there...
