T-Mo text rate increases to $.20 8/29/08

Effective 6/28/08 there is a new revision of their terms & conditions so anyone who signed up prior's contract is still adherent to the conditions in the older t&c from 12/04.

some time ago sprint raised their messaging rates to $.15 and people were outraged, however it was considered a material change in the contract terms so people were allowed to have early terminations without the fee (which sucked for me because i had just bought out my contract to sign up with t-mo!). i'm sure the same applies here because there's a little mention of early terminations in the blurb on t-mo's site. suspiciously, the bucket messaging add-ons are not increasing in price, or, i should say an increase has yet to be announced.

$.20 is a big increase and i doubt people will be too happy about it, though t-mo's bis is significantly cheaper than most places, so it might be a trade off. i for one have the $59.99 minutes and mail (1000 anytime, unlimited bb email, bis and sms) but i don't look forward to having my mms charges double, and i don't like the idea of having to add a messaging bundle just for mms because i do feel it should be included with my rate plan.

Yeah, that's not cool but I knew it would catch up eventually. TMo's pricing has been below the other competitors prices for awhile now. It was all a matter of time. Does it affect me now?? No, but I'm not at all liking the idea of as you said, adding a messaging bundle just for MMS, that's just garbage. Once again these Telco's and other Technology giants find a way to "shank" their customers in the back somehow, one way or another.

TMo customer since 2004...

im not a rep but i believe you have 14 days after the rate increase to either agree to the new price or to cancel your contract- if the wording of the TOS hasnt changed much then tmo is doing something against their own terms and therefore you can and should be able to end your contract with no etf

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~there will be a message block feature avail before the increase its scheduled for july 18th so for people with out a plan they can get the feature added on for free and it will block incoming and outgoing text also one for ims but you can choose to block text and allow ims or block every thing that may charge meaning emails and data ims would still be allowed since those are included with bb feature

pinpoint is on.. point... ! that means that you have from 072908 to 082908 to cancel your service...

" WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH AT LEAST 30 DAYS NOTICE AND YOU MAY TERMINATE YOUR SERVICE WITHOUT AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE (WHICH IS YOUR ONLY REMEDY) BY NOTIFYING US WITHIN 30 DAYS AFTER YOU RECEIVE THE NOTICE. IF YOU FAIL TO TERMINATE WITHIN THOSE 30 DAYS, YOU ACCEPT THE CHANGES."

if you dont cancel, you agree to the new terms

just remeber that in order to get out, you need to be on the pay per message, you cant have a bundle- (unlimited msg) as the price on that hasnt been changed

Dang, I was just gonna ask about what if you had the unlimited plan. What if I change to a limited sms plan? Then can I cancel right away?
~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Well then good thing I don't have a messaging plan. I don't care to pay $0.20, but I just want out of my contract. Do you guys think I can still transfer my numbers to AT&T if I cancel in that way? ~via 8320 BB (wap.rabroad.com)~
