well i can tell you quite a bit here. they have the 8820, and the 8800 that have gps, also the sony ericcson tm506. they all run through telenav and the service is a monthly fee of 10$. it hasnt been a popular feature, many users go without using it. now also the problem when deciding to what to add to a device is what to fit. the pearl and curve only have a spot for one antenna and sticking to what t-mobile is all aout the @home service would be more important so that one antenna is being used for wifi as appossed to gps. the 8820 series because of size can house both wifi and gps.
the blackberry 8220(the flip pearl)is an amazing device as i have already played with one. yes it's a flip but it is an amazing device....think back to when the pearl launched there were a lot of naysayers due to size and additon of trackball, etc. people didnt think it would fit as well as having people thinking it was a great idea, well look what has evolved out of it and how many more new blackberry users have joined that would have never to begin with if it wasn't because of the pearl. it's the same with the 8220/flip pearl/kickstart whatever you would like to call it. it's to attract the consumer who is worried about moving to a device that may look intimidating to them so lets put it into something they are use to seeing (a flip device) or for those business users who or existing berry users who want something a little more discreet that looks more like a phone, rather than feeling like they are tied down to "company work" phone or a device that has to tag along with them...well this is the answer. I remember when RIM said they would never make a device with a camera, or trakball, or a touchscreen, or flip and look at them now.......it's evolution.
onto the interesting stuff, the 8220 is an amazing device, its sleek, but rugged, very powerful, and can take a beating. it has the 4.6 OS and has an amazing browser, the screen is so sharp, everything is fast and clear supports up to 16 gbs of additional storage. when a message or facebook notification is sent to your device you can actually check it with the device closed. the facebook image of the person who sent you the notification will show on the screen. a strong camera, media player is amazing, sounds geat. it is an amazing device to add to the lieup, and better will come in time. i think once you hold the device you may have a change of heart about it.
