Ya' know I'm amazed this thread is still open. I've been watching it for a while and there's no real comparison between SOAD and Static X. I give them both props for what they've earned. First, I'd say Static X, for complex vocal structure and a unique sound. SOAD strikes me as a cross between RATM and Drowning Pool. Then again, I might say SOAD for their wild riRAB and hyped up sound. But flat out, I'd say you'd be better off comparing SOAD to (hed) PE and Static X to old school NIN.

Someone obviously missed the point of why "Steal this Album" was released. It wasn't released to make anyone think that the band was going downhill, it was released because unfinished, unmixed songs were leaked out, and someone actually went so far as to review them. I personally love SOAD, since I first heard the song Ariels. I have every system of down album, except the new one (which I plan to buy after I get my next NGC game) and would be hard pressed to say which was my fav. songs, because so many of them have meaning, and that's what I love in music. I didn't think there was anything at all wrong with steal this album, and if I had to pick a fav song it would be ADD which is on steal this album. Some of the songs that were on STA were from before SOAD was a big name, and songs that didn't fit in with the flow of Toxicity. Maybe some of you here need to free your life!

I get a lot of flak from people for being a System of a Down fan, and I strongly disagree. Serj's solo album was immeasurably worse than any System of a Down album (yes, that follows for Steal This Album!). It was bland, it was boring, and it simply didn't have the euphoric highs and crushing lows that characterize my love for System. Maybe he neeRAB Daron, maybe he's just not a natural songwriter, but Serj's solo album was just...bad.

I do agree with your choice in SOAD albums; Toxicity is a natural favorite and Hypnotize is grossly underrated. I'd take either over Mezmerize any day.

I find that I'm the opposite of most people. I hate their older stuff but find their newer stuff to have more direction. It still sucks but I'd listen to it over older stuff.

Truthfully, people shouldn't give others trouble about their taste in music.
But if you're going to disagree with the way people react to your taste, I don't think that you should criticize an album that many people believe was interesting.
The album wasn't bad, you just didn't like it compared to SOAD's albums.

Science is great as well, but Prison Song gets points for catchiness.

I have to say Toxicity, simply because even though it doesn't have as many good tracks as Hypnotize, the tracks that are good are better than a lot of the ones on Hypnotize.
