System of a Down

I've been walking through your streets,
Where all your money's earning,
Where all your building's crying
And clueless neckties working,
Revolving fake lawn houses,
Housing all your fears,
Desensitized by TV,
Overbearing advertising,
God of consumerism,
And all your crooked pictures
Looking good, mirrorism,
Filtering information,
For the public eye,
Designed for profiteering,
Your neighbor, what a guy.
Modern globalization,
Coupled with condemnations,
Unnecessary death,
Matador corporations,
Puppeting your frustrations,
I don't find a "political agenda" anywhere in these lyrics, and this song makes me feel hate and anger over the issues being discussed, so you really MUST be a twat, since you don't see this. I'm doing a piece on political content within music, with reference to System, and they write much more than just average "hate America" anthems. (actually, are quite an intellectual lot, see www.systemofadownonline.com psychological assessments of the merabers) And the reason that songs like BYOB and Hypnotize went so mainstream is that Violent Pornography, Vicinity/Obscenity, they were unfit for radioplay.*and Hypnotize was kinda crap. Again, I see no politics in those examples either. People who like SOAD should look into Serart, and those who are cool people should check them out too, b/c it illustrates my point. Plus its just kewl, random tribal style drumming & chanting, sry, have no links tho :( k, I'm done ranting...:wavey:

same level recently... but pitchshifters early work wins.

i dont really know why i like pitchshifter tbh, but they're the only band of that style that i can listen to.

wow u think atwa was a better song over prison song and aerials, all the songs on toxicity were awesome, but i think chop suey(a classic), toxicity, and forest were the better songs

on mezmerize i think radio/video, byob, violent pornography, and olRABchool hollywood were the better songs on mezmerize, i dun rlly like question or revenga, but they both rock, and they pulled another calmer song like aerials and ego brain - Lost in Hollywood which in my opinion is better then both of those songs

but overall toxicity was there best album, way better then mezmerize and steal this album, but it is pretty much neck and neck to there self titled album - in my opinion

I don't think that it was a point of "fitting" them together, man!!!It's most likely the fact that they wrote a "collection" of songs that ended up being so many that they could make 2 albums with 'em(?)!!!:band: They don't have to necessarily have the same "themes" to them, ya know?:pimp: :)

Whats remarkable is that this is a band thats really stayed close with its sound yet seems to change it up quite a bit, but maybe thats because up until now the CD's have been far apart and that you can't settle into anything SOAD does.

Allegedly Hypnotize will be stronger than this, but with it coming so close, it will be interesting to see how the reaction goes down. Im sure it will be great but will people expect digression?

Static X better songs all together for me. i used to be into system of a down alot more but eh they went downhill after their toxicity album

oh umm on mtv2 they havea contest called muther truckin i think the addy for da site is mtvmuthertruckin.com wina 18 wheeler full of swag from banRAB a car and 25k nto 2 shabby if i must say

HELL YEAH! System is one of the coolest and origional metal banRAB out there! Thier self-titled cd was the best, but Toxicity and Steal This Album kick ass! The best System song has to be Chop Suey!

All of those sound like nu-metal to me. Also, I appreciate their effort to try and do a different version of "The Metro" but the original is so much better.

yeah, they were all headbanging with their abnormally long hair. it was different. but they sounded good, the dudes voice kinda got to me.. ah well.
