System of a Down

I love everything the band did... it all had a strength and energy to it and a very unique sound during a time when hard rock acts were sounding more and more cookie cutter all the time...

As I had more than a couple of merabers recommending me Serj Tankian's debut album Elect the Dead, for I am a SOAD fan. I bought an original copy of the album a month ago (I just couldn't stop myself), and have been listening to the album for more than 10 consecutive days now, and I have to say, it's definitely an awesome album. I may have a couple of least liked songs, but even those have their moments, so I can't say there's any skippable tracks on there.

Maybe on the first listen it might sound a bit too much like a System album, ...well, I don't know what's the negative conclusion I was going with that. Anyway, Serj Tankian's voice still gives me goosebumps, his lyrics are still as rough as ever, and finally his arrangements and melodies seem to be immersed even more in the Oriental feel, so nothing to complain about :D Like the intro in "Praise the lord and pass the ammunition" sounRAB like a distorted lute, all very nice.

So all in all, loved the album, and thank you for recommending it over and over.. and over.

Im sure I saw the tracklist floating around the net somewhere , and Im sure it wasnt just two or three. I think itll probably be around about the same length as Mezmerize, just over half an hour.

Harsh because he wants to be accepted in whatever facist scene he's a part of. Clearly all great music has a conformity mandate in its scene. Idiots.

At any rate, I don't understand why sugar is so great to you people. Can anyone explain it?

:yeah: :hphones:
Systems definitly is one of the more unique rock/metal groups out. I also totally see the war/politics references, (ex. BOOM! Sad Statue). My faves are Roulette, Bubbles, and Cigaro (Old school hollywooRAB' good for a larf). I don't know a lot about them but from what I understand, some of the merabers are Czec or of heavy european backgrounRAB (not 100% so don't quote me k?). This seems to lend to their different sound (personally I say polka influence). I also have a copy of another group the lead vocalist is invloved with called Serart. After hearing Serart, I listened to SOAD differently.
