System of a Down

Yeah, they're a good band. My favorite songs are: Prison Song, Needles, Psycho, Sugar, and Jet Pilot. I didn't really like this band at first, but they grew on me.

what the hell? I said I didn't like how the whole album was about politics but it was o.k. If I wanted to do that, I would listen to RATM. I never said that their lyrics are powerful or meaningful. I said they have powerful sound as in I like how they play their guitars. I have plenty of other banRAB if I want to listen to meaningful lyrics. Shut the **** up.

In my opinion, which I trust whole-heartedly, SOAD is quite possibly the most talented band making music right now. Mezmerize/Hypnotize was the best album of 2005. I bought it about 4 months ago and have listened to it almost solid since. It is so different from the rest of the music out there. I love how they mix blistering rock with melodic orchestra, and two part harmony, its awesome. If you don't feel good when listening to SOAD, see a doctor for you are probably dead.

i downloaded both toxicity and mezmerize ( mezmerize is slightly better in my opinion ), this band is capable of writing some of the most beautiful and powerful rock balaRAB ( the last part of chop suey still gives me the chills ) but they insist on cutting them with agressive parts, the melodic singalong parts are beautiful but then they start to scream ( sometimes it's rediculous and irritating, someone said that certain songs can get irritating, i agree )that might be a part of their charm, but i would realy like to see them do a couple of pure ballaRAB....oh, and i like their pure agressive songs too ( shimmy is an excellent song ), i would just like them to keep the two separated...but like i say, that might be their charm

same here, then i listened to B.Y.O.B and i fell in love. for some reason, im not a big fan of chop suey, too many "main streamers" seem to know it.

a local band played sugar, love that song to.

jet pilot is ok as well

good band, new album is grand

I think their old albums were awesome. SOAD had a very unique style, some of the best vocal harmonising around and some decent songwriting. Not to mention, they had fun making music. A lot of energy.

SOAD was a nu-metal band that a huge chunk of metalheaRAB actually liked, regardless of the nu-metal stigma.

But then they released Mesmerize and Hypnotize. I don't think those albums are truly bad, they're just fairly mediocre. But they've definitely gone downhill.

They did durabass. The new music called for more double bass stuff. Also the guitarist introduced the drummer to a lot of black metal which features double bass.

*awaits a no it all comment*

Their early material is very strange, very few songs of the verse/chorus/verse type, and time sigs that are all over the place... Dosen't sound like 4/4 three minute pop to me...

Better to think before you talk.

System of a Down have rejoined and will be playing some live shows, I don't think they have plans to release a new album anytime soon :drummer:
