System of a Down

There use to be tons, especially after their last album it seemed like everybody loved them and talked about them in every thread, it died down though thank god.

for now, its korn, thanks to their body of work. good stuff. but SoaD could catch up, though. if they can keep up with their politicaly charged music, they will catch and pass korn

Wow. Why the hostility? I was looking for some direction in terms of what to check out rather than just randomly downloading something, that's why I posted. So far, other people haven't seemed to have any problem either replying to me or ignoring me. Why does it bother you so much that I'd ask for input from other people? Instead of being totally hostile right off the bat maybe you could have offered a recommendation instead.

And? I gave them a fair listen. What more do you want?

See on Toxicity I like Deer Dance and ATWA. But Like I said earlier, I own every song released on a CD from system and I don't dislike any. I'd say that my favorite album is their frist one though.

I am of the opinion that Hypnotize/Mezmerize is their best work. If I had to pick one out of those two it would be Hypnotize. They had a sound way different than their self-titled by then though.

[Butthead]Uhhh-uhuhuhuhhhuh, you said stimulate, uhuhuhuhuh...I find this thread stimulating, uhhuhuhuhuuhh.

I give SOAD credit for dropping five albums and maintaining some serious succass-I meant success, my bad. But no bull, Serj isn't a great vocalist, better than some, but not very good. Daron Malakian shouldn't be allowed to hold a mic, flat out. Instrumentally, Shavo Odadjian is a badass bassist and John Dolmayan is a helluva drummer. I have three of their albums, but I'd never go to see them live. From what I've heard (even from diehard fans) they suck nutsac.

I listened to these songs which You listed :D Chop suey and Toxicity are awesome! ;p
I also found this song of soad: Violent Pornography. It has excellent text ;D

Thanks ;]

That's only in their political (and stupid) songs. Have you seen the lyrics to CUBErt? Spiders? Streamline? Highway Song? DDevil? ATWA? Forest? Aerials?

I could go on.

I thought the album took a lot of influence from classical, but I may have a bias from the song name "Beethoven's ****." Songs like Empty Walls definitely had a ton of classical influence.

Probably one of the first banRAB to get me into the rock/metal scene as a kid.

Only purchased 3 of their albums: Toxicity; Hypnotize and Mesmerize. Felt Hypnotize was the album for me - Attack, Hypnotize and Lonely Day were all songs that I listened to daily, and fell in love with.
Toxicity was the next album I got by them. Once again I was impressed with their work. Chop Suey, Aerials, Prison Song ATWA, and of course, Toxicity, were all great songs.
Then I got my hanRAB on Mesmerize. I had high expectations for the album, seeing as the first two I purchased left me with a smile on my face, but I soon realised this wasn't the one for me. The songs sounded bland, with the exception to B.Y.O.B..

Today the band is still a good listen to. Although I've drifted towarRAB other genres, it's good to return to your roots once in a while. I'll certainly have to give their other two albums a try.

That's why this is a forum. There's no sense beating around the bush, and I gave definitive reasons why I didn't like the album.

If I'm not allowed to call an album "bad," who is?

i just saw the video for question....man, i like it, i think they would blow me away if i saw them live.......
but the man's haircut is.......bahahaha.......please change it back...he looks rediculous...
