I have had scolliosis since I were 12ys old. In 1973 I had traction which did not do anything. In 1984 I had xray which showed no increase in curve to spine, at this stage in my life I were fit and well, I worked in the forestry and played rugby and did a lot of tramping. 5 Months later I were thinning trees and a tree lirab fell from 20 feet which hit me on the top of my back. I had a swelling (a lump the size of an half apple) I remeraber getting up with differguilty. I could not carry out my gear and felt week. I did not see a doctor at this time. I soon found that I started to trip and my lower back began to hurt as well as verying other symptoms. I put these down to a knee opperation and chainsaw work. When cycleing I would find that I did not have the power I used to have. I changed jobs to for these reasons. Over the next few years I had seen several differant doctors about these and were given differant reasons for this. I left this job and moved to the UK and worked in a less stressfull invirerment but my symptoms continued to worsen and in 2000 I had a MRI scan and my world fell apart when I found out that I had Sryingomyelia. I moved back to NZ and were told that This was caused by the truma in 1984. I am Now Fighting Acident compansation. They say that I had sryingomyelia which is the cause of my scolliosis. The Nuroligist who examined me is adimant that the truma is the cause.
