Synthetic is better than conventional oil in every way but cost. You can use it if you wish. Would not use sea foam though.

I bought my 2005 Dodge Stratus 3k miles ago. I know its now said cars can go even 6k+ miles before an oil change, but I wish to sea foam so I want to change the oil now. I'm not sure though whether I need non synthetic oil or synthetic or it doesn't matter. The owners manual states "You may use synthetic engine oils provided that the recommended oil quality requirements are met and the recommended maintenance intervals for oil and filter changes are followed." Does this mean I can use Synthetic or non synthetic? I want to get the best performance I can, but I don't want to do something that may be harmful.

i own two of those cars and run synthetic in both of them with both having real high miles on them and neither one have caused any problems yet, mobil one is a good brand to run in those cars, really though most synthetic oils made today are a good choice, just stay with a good name brand and you,ll be alright, and the rumors you hear about it causing seals to leak and all kinds of other problems aren't true,if that was the case mine would be leaking.and neither one is leaking anything, good luck.
