Synthetic Oil?

Yes, change to a true P.A.O. based synthetic oil, (the sooner the better), and not the cheap imitation synthetic oils at discount stores today, for the following benefits -

1. Improved fuel economy.
2. More power/better throttle response.
3. Reduced engine operating/oil temperatures.
4. Extended engine life.
5. Easier cold weather starting/improved lubrication.
6. Reduced Emissions.
7. Reduced maintenance/repair costs.
8. Superior high temperature protection.

The ads and put downs of other brands by Amsoil is a real turn off for me and because of that I will not use their products.
Amsoil is probably a good product but there are a lot of good oils on the market and at much less cost. I doubt that any rider can notice any of the 8 items listed above.
Just my opinion, just because it is on the internet does not make it a fact.

rotella is pretty popular as a synthetic - popular enough around WI that the fleet n farm (local chain) was sold out of both mobil 1 and rotella synthetic.

Did I mention we just had a warm snap the other week?

and now, people are deciding that the vehicle (that should have had it's oil changed last christmas) ought to really be changed now.
 
and iam sure if lucas oil did the same thing amsoil would fail lol
like a said not a problem in 13000 miles change the filter at 2500 miles change
oil and filter at 5000
 
AMSOIL doesn't, "put down", competitive oils, but merely shows the results of industry standard tests and let the chips fall where they may. That's just sharing good, solid information so a consumer can make an informed choice. AMSOIL usually costs much less to use than other oils and more money in the wallet is something most people would notice. :) Over the past 25 years, many of my customers notice all the improvements AMSOIL can make, which is why they are still customers. :) Also, since AMSOIL is a 100% made in America product, (unlike the Big Oil industry importing Middle East oil), this helps to support American jobs and with the economy like it is, that makes a positive difference. :bluethum:
 
Not at all. ASTM and SAE industry standard tests are set to very closely controlled testing parameters so the test results are repeatable by anyone conducting the tests.

No oil will ever be a, "problem", however in the area's of improved fuel economy, lower maintenance and repair costs, more power, lower emissions, easier cold engine starting, improved lubrication, longer lasting engines that run, "like new", for a longer period of time, etc., are all distinct benefits to any owner.
 
ams oil is pain to get. You can't just get it some were. you have to find a person that is a dealer, Then most likely they're not going to have it on hand. Now they order it and have to wait till it comes in.
 
Usually, high end products don't grow on tree's. I have my orders brought right to my front door and that's about as convenient as it gets. :bluethum:

I use Rotella now but it is not the only oil, use the oil you are comfortable with and quit beating a dead equine. :fight2:

works for me - especially when you consider what the price of regular oil has gotten to lately ($3 a quart of that crap? are you nuts?)

remember back in the day when regular oil was 93 cents a quart? and synthetic was $5?

Now regular oil as gone up, and rotella is still $5 / quart.
 
When looking at AMS' White Papers on their motorcycle oil's, one finds that Mobil 1 comes in second on the 10W40 and 20W50 tests. Advance Auto Parts carries the Mobil 1 M/C oils just down the road from me...I think that's what I'll be running...it's $9.99/qt. compared to $10.75+shipping for the AMS.
They also carry the Valvoline 4-stroke oil...but it's not a synthetic...but is a bit cheaper at around $4/qt.
 
That's what I've used in my bikes for a while now.

Ignore the "descriptions" for the two different weights and pick the one closest to the book recommendation. That would be the 10W40 for almost all water cooled situations (except maybe the desert Southwest) and the thicker one for air cooled only bikes.

Unlike some other riders, I can't tell any difference with any part of my bikes performance regardless of what oil I put in it.
 
the only two ways I can tell from regular to synthetic is

much less oil consumed and
the oil stays clean a lot longer.

Never noticed any other differences.
