syncing with 2 pc's

I've had a quick search, and this doesn't appear to be too much of a problem. I'm embarking on buying my own home pc, and would prefer to use this as the main pc to back my T3 up to, load progams from etc.

However, the diary and contact on my work PC are vital.

Are there any particular practical difficulties on syncing my work diary with my work pc, and everything else on my home pc?

Should be no problem at all. My wife uses her Palm on both her work PC and at home. Obviously, the PC ones will be differenct from each other depending on what is doing with the Palm and when she synced. To answer the next question, we both sync on home PC with no problem either. The separate hotsync user names takes care of that. Hope that helps. Go for it.

The big question is do you enter data on your palm or computer?

It would be a good idea to set your conduits on one computer to "sync" and your conduits on the other computer to "Palm overrides Desktop." You just couldn't enter data on the "P overrides D" computer but your data will be safe.

When you set up the home PC, the Palm Desktop software will ask you the first time that you sync for the user name, it will sense the Palm device name and you just need to be certain to choose the user name that is assigned to your Palm.

The desktop software will sense the data on the handheld and will back it up to whatever desktop software your using....if it's Outlook then it will populate those fields, if it's Palm Desktop then it will populate those fields from the Palm and you don't have to do anything special.

If you have "other" software on the device that has it's own conduits such as Bonsai, Automobile or any other that shows up in the Hot Sync conduit on the work computer then this gets a little complicated. Then I'd recommend not having them on both but othewise you should be able to make any change to any of the 3 devices and based upon the time stamp....it will be reflected on each device after the appropriate hot sync.

Bare in mind that if you make a change or someone makes a change to your desktop at home while your at work and you then hotsync at work after the "timestamp" of the change on them home computer it will be lost as the Palm will say...sync'd at 5:00PM and didn't have this record...I'm going to delete it on the home PC at 6:00PM.

Several times I have thought it would be a good idea to synchronise my work calander using Outlook as well as my home PC. Each time I have regreted this move as I have either lost large amounts of calander items or had many (thousands) of duplicate item generated. (I have been using Palms since 1997).
Just recently I upgraded from a TT to a T5 and using the latest Outlook conduits to resync my work and personal calanders. I ended up doing a hard reset on the T5 and performed a recovery from the TT to get over the mess that Outlook made of the calandar items.

thanks for the warning - i'll approach with care.

Might be that we brits aren't as technologically able as the americans...

or bill puts bugs in uk outlook releases...

I use a T3 and sync to GroupWise via Intellisync on my work PC, while I sync to OutlookXP on my home PC via the conduit provided by Palm. I never lost appointments this way, but had a lot of trouble in the beginning deleting duplicates.
I now enter datebook entries on my T3 only, setting the conduit in Intellysync as a one way conduit (Palm to PC) and my home conduit to syncronize, but Palm wins in conflicts. With this setup I have had no problems for a long time (but of course I use my BackupBuddy many times a day to be safe!)
