Symbian Wireless security

Very close to buying the E72 but the dealbreaker is if the phone can connect to the wireless at my University.

Each student has a unique Username and Passcode that is used to gain access to Wifi.

Had the Nokia 5800, connected to home wifi just fine, but on campus would recognize the wireless but ask for WEP key instead of asking for username and password. The university technical support said the phone didn't support the latest security settings, but the guy also had never seen a 5800.

I am hoping that the E72 would be capable of connecting because its newer, its an E series, and because my N900 connects just fine (but its not symbian).

But since the 5800 couldn't connect, then not sure, so does anyone know about the wifi networking stuff?

Thanks

Maybe you need to set it up manually, i am pretty sure Symbian does enterprise security EAP.

But might be harder if it needs vpn or something like that. Maybe search on the internet about other unis and symbian

Usually the e-series (and most symbian devices) connects to most enterprise/university wifi security solutions. But it may require some work to determine the settings. A link to your university's wifi configuration page would be useful to give a more accurate response.

Thanks for the replies,

I will mess around some more with some settings, my 5800 just broke so will try to find another way...
