Symbian OS is one of the world?s leading operating system for Smartphones. This week (most probably Monday) Symbian Ltd., is going to announce its latest Symbian OS version 9.5.

Some of the key enhancements include:

Performance improvements with reductions in requirements on memory, processor and battery, new hardware adaptation interfaces for digital TV and location based services, rich multimedia experiences with advanced camera features similar to standalone digital cameras with 35 new features, support for multi-standard digital TV (DVB-H, ISDB-T) and standardised LBS, improved seamless connectivity to home computers, enabling the easy transfer of music, videos and images, Wifi-3G connection roaming.

Symbian OS v9.5, is also backward compatible with all versions of the v9 family.
Hope that Symbian?s leading user interface platform partners including MOAP, S60 and UIQ will start to integrate the latest version, whenever it would be available.

Well as long as they stay true to this part "Symbian OS v9.5, is also backward compatible with all versions of the v9 family" im all for it. If they come out with another version that isnt compatible with older software like 3rd edition was its really going to tick me off.

Also I hope Nokia stops playing the "what kind of memory card format can we use next" and just stick with a format. They when from MMC to RS-MMC to DV-RSMMC to MiniSD and MicroSD and for someone like me who changes phones allot I don't like having to get new memory cards all the time

I dont know about you, but I'm really hoping Nokia adopts Micro SDHC. Planned capacity is supposed to be 32 gigs. SD was only planned for 2 gigs.

Symbian noob here:

Sorry to tread jack

I'm on the list to get an N95 what is the cost to upgrade to newer versions of the Symbian software? are there any warranty issues with upgrades?
