Symbian^3 Delayed

Quite correct. Most are purchased because they're cheap or free with a contract. In other words, they're bought because they're easy. Nobody aspires to buy a nokia anymore.
 
Don't worry. Iteration #1 is never good. Remember original Android? G1 without a soft keyboard? LOL. Now we're at 2.1.

Remember the original iPhone? No apps? Terrible mail app? The only thing good was you got a touch screen. Pinch zoom maps. WHOAH. We had Garmin. Touchscreen browser. Okay? Look where we are today. Pretty nice huh? You have to admit iPhone users are excited to be running OS3, and 3GS users will be happy to get OS4 soon.

So I think S^3 will have a long way to go even though it finally catches up...
 
Not a good sign for Nokia, after all the waiting, I'm far more interested in Android headsets now(or a Palm device)....just waiting for some new form factors(thinking QWERTY devices)

Frankly S^3 isn't even that nice of an upgrade....WebOS still beats the pants off of it(although with nice hardware/price I would go to S^3 first), but with the wait, and devices like HTC EVO, Palm's new headset and iPhone HD....Symbian 3^3 won't be worth the wait
 
I was about to pick up a nexus one (again!) until someone offered me their 3GS for $400...had to jump on it. Apart from the $30 data plan, I must say that I'm impressed with this phone and how capable it is -- it's truly come a long way from the 2G that I had from about two years ago.

I not sure if i happy or dissapointed, if we avoid another n97 fiasco im fine, plus will explore what iphone 4 offers, aside from that there is nothing out there thats wowing me at all, so i can wait, but again i have an upgrade ready to try iphone 4. :buddies:
 
Anticipated. Somehow expected, so I'm not disappointed. I also expect they would keep secrecy much closer to the chest this time, and won't announce the phone until they're ready to ship, not months ahead. Keeping things secret or unofficial, then reveal to the last minute is now the latest mobile industry marketing style, thanks to Apple. See how the latest Droid does it.

I do expect in the coming weeks, to see leaks after leaks, maybe we will find a prototype left in a bar somewhere...
 
I pretty much agree. The i8910 that I use now, I bought largely due to its video and still photo capabilities; it also just happened to run on S60v5. It's a shame because the Omnia is packing a lot of power, but v5 hamstrings it. It's like driving a BMW....with a square steering wheel and Fred Flinstone's stone tires.

I do have a couple of Nokia back-up phones, a 6650 and an E66 that an ex-girlfriend left behind, but I'll only go back to the brand when they have a phone running on Meego. The i8910 is definitely my last Symbian phone. Next up, once my AT&T contract runs out in February, I'm hopping to Verizon or Sprint for an Android phone, or will stay with Big Blue on the new iPhones.
 
the iPhone is a great device no doubt. iPhone apps are more polished and fancy over the android apps, but I don't care one bit. why did you get rid of your nexus? I haven't liked a phone this much in years, probably since my n95.

I just sold my n97 mini this morning finally. in a way I wanted to keep it, but figure the closer I wait till symbian^3, the less money the mini will be worth.

Symbian development occurs at 3 sites. The first is in England (forgot which city) the second is Bangalore, India and the 3rd is Shanghai, China.
 
Well, anybody familiar with Nokia's MO ("ready...aim...aim...aim...ready...") shouldn't be too shocked by the delay, but apparently every journalist and all the Nokia investors were. The stock got absolutely walloped, like young Mike Tyson taking down Michael Spinks. It was ugly; down 14-15% in one day. Sell or Hold ratings all over the place.

I hope for the Finns' sake that Symbian^3 works out for them.

Matthew Miller from Nokia Daily News and tnkgrl, both bloggers, just did a video podcast I caught on my i8910 the other day. Miller said he has seen S^3, and wasn't impressed by it, said it's essentially S60v5 with a newer UI layer and some more graphics ability. Tnkgrl dismissed Meego ("they're too late") and suggested that Nokia buy Palm and throw WebOS on their phones.
