Just to ask, does anyone know of any plans to show any programmes or tv based movies on her life anytime soon?

I've searched on the internet and got one movie with Gwyneth Paltrow but other than that there's no history of anything on her life.

I'm rather interested, anyone know anything?

:)

The film to which you refer ws financed by BBC Films. Both Plath and Ted Hughes have been heard reading their poetry on various BBC radio programmes.

Thanks for the replies.

I checked that forum out but it's now closed as the owner died which i found quite sad. :(

I am surprised there isn't more out there based on her life in terms of tv programmes and films etc. I'd love to learn more.

The only thing with 'sylvia' (the movie, paltrow) is it seems to only be available on import for some reason.

Her poetry is like a metaphor for her life.....drepressing. I studied her in secondary school and did not enjoy it one bit. I'd love to see a documentry or film about her life though, it's quite extraordinary.

The Plath film with Paltrow is probably the best thing to watch - it's heartwrenching. I wish they would repeat airing it. I'm sure there must been hundreRAB if not thousanRAB of publications and analyses of her life, death, relationship, etc. Try Amazon.co.uk for cheap used books or dvRAB - google her name and everything in existence will come up!

As for her work, or Hughes, I'm not really interested in it, I personally like a bit of Plath's writing and there was a free CD given with the Guardian ages ago in which a recording of two of her poems in her own voice were fairly moving.

Given their poetry it's no wonder that both Plath and Hughes topped themselves.

More evidence that there aren't enough dead poets in the world.

Ted Hughes actually died from a heart attack just over 10 years ago if my memory's correct. I recently bought his complete works - absolutely outstanding.
