Swollen lymph node

Hi, I have had a swollen lymph node for a while now. It doesn't hurt and can be moved around a bit. Blood tests came back normal (white count normal). What would be the likely cause?

Did the lymph node increase in size within the two month period and has it now stop growing?
Keep an eye on it and if it does not begin to decrease in size in the next couple of months, than you should return to the doctor for a reevaluation.

Hi Brenda,

It appears to change size as sometimes it is far more visible than others. I will keep a close eye on it. If it doesn't decrease in size what would normally be the next course of action?

Lymph nodes are designed to gobble up the germs and infections in your body. That's why it is swollen. When it has disposed of the nasties, it will shrink back down in size. It may take a couple of months. It is a small infection seeing as your blood work was clean.

Your doctor will probably put you on a round of antibiotics.

Could a hemorrhoid cause the lymph node in my neck to swell as I think I may have one.

Ok thank you. It has been around 2 months since it first appeared and is quite large so hopefully nothing serious.

I do not believe that a hemorrhoid would cause your lymph node in your neck to swell.

OIf your blood work came back clean then I wouldn't worry about it. It can take a couple months to shrink down.
