Swollen fingers, first time.

I was at work, because of my job I am always outside. About 2 hours into my shift, I noticed my left hand was feeling strange...like a numb tingling feeling. I looked at my hand and my fingers were swollen, same as my right hand but didn't have the strange feeling as much as in my left hand.

My toes also started to feel the same strange feeling, I went to first aid ( I work in a theme park) the guy there said it seemed to be a allergic reaction. He had me put that pink lotion stuff on my hands and it didn't help. I did also notice that my face was very red even though I was wearing SPF 100 sunblock. ( Also, my job doesn't have me be around chemicals, plants, etc. So I know I didn't touch or was around anything)

My manager let me go home, I went to the doc and she seemed somewhat clueless, she said it's possible it's an allergic reaction to the sun but she wasn't sure. She gave me allergy pills and told me to stay home the next day, the swelling in my fingers seems to be better a little but in my toes I still have that numb tingling feeling..it keeps feeling like that feeling you get when you sit the wrong way and your leg feels strange, it's been feeling like that all day.

It's the first time this ever happened, could it be a sun allergy ( also to point out, I do get bad headaches when I am in the sun even though I drink plenty of water, so maybe that may be part of it) or something else?...I am just concerned since this is the first time it ever happened..

Any help would be great, thanks!

It could be an allergic reaction.

The same thing happened to me when I was outside with my boyfriend while it was raining hard. When we reached a store, I noticed some of the fingers on both of my hands were very swollen and I had an itchy, tingling sensation. My boyfriend had also experienced the same thing. Earlier it was sunny and humid.
If the environment you were in was sunny and humid, most likely it's a reaction to mosquito bites. I could tell where the bites were too- it was pale, contrary to the reddish pinkish swollen finger.
If that was not how your hand looked like, and you've never had to deal with mosquitos, then it states in this website that swollen fingers may be due to infection, injury or even repetitive motion.
